All American Roast Beef

I certainly agree with the reviewer who cautioned that there is a difference between "pot" roast and "roast beef". This is recipe is for roast beef - not pot roast, which is cooked with liquids. Also, one reviewer stated that you won't get the same results with beef purchased at Walmart; the same goes for Winco. You need to purchase a good cut of meat to get the flavor and tenderness you want. I, too invest in Angus beef, or Choice, the latter being available at Costco. Look at the grading on the meat you are buying. I also agree with another reviewer who says to not only use a oven thermometer to test the oven heat, but the reviewer also says to put the thermometer on the oven shelf you are using and set oven temperature accordingly, so that the temperature on that shelf reads 375 degrees on the thermometer. Kudos to these reviewers - right on! Good recipe!

Kraut Bierocks

What a joy it is to find this wonderful recipe on this site so that others may also enjoy it! Thanks, Kim! On 6/5/03 Marian Elizabeth posted a review for this recipe in which she states that her cookbook, purchased in Kansas, indicates that this recipe came from the Volga Germans who emigrated from Russia. I can verify this as my German grandparents did, in fact, emigrate from Russia, and my Mother made these delicious Bierocks many times as I was growing up. Thank you, Marian Elizabeth for this interesting bit of information concerning the German heritage in America.

Joel's Jerk Chicken Pineapple Pasta

I followed the recipe exactly, as I always do with a new recipe, and found that it needed to have more sauce. I later read TanjoJo's review and believe I would have been more pleased with the recipe had I used the her suggestion to add more sauce using the ingredients she used. This does seem to go with rice better, and that is what I used. Could not find dry Jerk seasoning in the stores, so I found a recipe for it on the web through Google. The seasoning itself, and the other ingredients in the recipe, including the cinnamon, were pleasing to us, but then, we like cinnamon.

Toffee Crunch Grahams

I was looking for a recipe with these ingredients for the cookie; however, while the taste is good, there is not enough sauce to cover the 35 grahams, unless the 35 grahams mean only a quarter of the whole rectangular graham as it comes out of the box It clumped up rather than poured onto the grahams, and I had to attempt to spread it with a knife, although once in the oven, it did spread out a little. Other similar cookies I have tasted using these ingredients presented an overall much lighter, smoother sauce covering the whole graham cracker. I had to give this recipe 4 stars because of the clumping of the sauce; the taste was excellent.
