Zippy Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: May 6, 2014
We thought this was good. Leftovers I bet will taste even better. If there is any, not much left in the dish! No bell pepper, and added abt 1/2 tsp extra curry powder.

Marinated Tuna Steak

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2012
I used this marinade for swordfish steaks, and it was fantastic. Only change was dried herbs for fresh. Am trying it again tonight, with fresh herbs, for swordfish again. Looking forward to it! Thanks for a great recipe, it's a new favorite.

Baked Mushroom Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2011
this is a good base recipe. I added three cloves of minced garlic to the mushrooms when they were nearly done. Then after removing the mushrooms I deglazed the pan with the broth and sherry. I added a dash of salt and pepper to that, along with one sliced jalepeno, and let it sit while I put the chicken into the baking dish. I spooned the mushrooms over the chicken, poured the broth/sherry mixture over that, then the butter over that. Baked for about 25m, then uncovered it and sprinkled fresh grated parmesan over the whole thing. Baked it for another 10-15m. Served it over rice. Came out good! Not for girls and sissies, though! ;) If you have a tender palate, maybe try half a jalapeno.

Easy Gravy

Reviewed: May 13, 2011
I made this, exactly as written, and it came out much too thin for my taste. Don't know what went wrong! If I try it again I guess I will go easy on adding the liquid; don't know what else to do.

Oven-Fried Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2010
This was a great way to make crispy chops, with less fat. I sprayed the pan with (generic) olive-oil cooking spray before placing them in the pan. After baking for 10 minutes, sprayed the tops, turned them over and baked for another 10 minutes. Made them for dinner last night, my husband and I both enjoyed them very much. Thanks for the idea!!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2009
This was good! We made it exactly as written, next time I will drain the beans instead. Otherwise it's perfect! We also cooked it a lot longer than the recipe calls for (10 hrs) and it came out fine.

Shish Tawook Marinated Chicken

Reviewed: May 4, 2009
I took the advice of other reviewers and subbed lemon juice for the mustard, and doubled the curry powder and garlic. Also we didn't have ketchup in the house so I used some tomato sauce with a pinch of sugar and wine vinegar. Marinated overnight, baked in the oven, super easy!! And it was GORGEOUS! We love curry, and it was a big hit in our house. The garlic dipping sauce is VERY tasty too. We have been drizzling it over lots of other stuff, cos I made a double batch :) Thanks for sharing this fabulous yet easy recipe!!

this was a good recipe to use instead of canned cream of celery. I scaled the recipe down to 2 servings then doubled the flour. perfect for my casserole! thanks!

Vegetable Chicken Pie

this is a good starter recipe but the topping didn't bake like a proper "pie". next time I will try biscuit dough instead.

Delicious Easy Chicken Francese

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
This was really nice, a hit at my house. I didn't use eggs when dredging the chicken in flour. The sauce does need more cornstarch (mixed it with wine then added it in). I used fresh lemon juice, which I think is essential; also added thyme; served it with quick brown rice and fresh green beans. This made enough sauce for two meals. The first one was with chicken, then I froze the rest and reheated it a few days later with fresh trout, white rice and baby peas. A good idea from another reviewer is to try it with mushrooms which I'll do next time. Thanks for the recipe--this is a keeper!

Tasty Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
this was nice. I made it with what was in the house: white onion (no shallots), and chili powder (no paprika). I do wish I had made more of the sherry/lemon juice mixture, to pour over the mashed potatoes we had with the chicken! :) next time I will try that.

Ciabatta

what a great recipe! I have been 'feeding' and caring for the original sponge when I first made this recipe for over a month now. my BF asks me to make 'that wonderful bread' again and again. so easy, now that the sponge is in the fridge! and you only need take it out a day or so ahead. I just can't rave enough about this. would give it ten stars if I could! :) thanks so much for sharing this fantastic recipe!

Indian Peas And Cauliflower

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
way too much cumin. if you try this, I suggest cutting the cauliflower as small as possible. it was difficult to toss the seeds and oil to get the vegetables fully covered. I might try it again.

Crispy Mashed Potato Pancake

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2008
these turned out nice with the addition of 1 tablespoon of flour. made them with garlic mashed potatoes. be sure to cook them for eight minutes each side so they don't fall apart. for fun, I added shredded cabbage (from bagged coleslaw mix) and some minced green onion to the second batch, they turned out very yummy. my english husband said, 'you just made bubble-and-squeak'! thanks for the recipe.

Easy Indian Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2008
WOW. This really was easy, and so very good. I used the entire 1/4 cup butter and whole milk instead of cream. Used only garam masala in the initial seasoning with cayenne and salt (and a little cracked red pepper). Didn't add tandoori masala b/c I didn't have any, but we thought it turned out fabulous anyway. I also took the advice of simmering it all gently in one pan, very good idea. Served over basmati rice, and we just loved it. Will definitely make again. Thanks for a great recipe!

Apple Crisp III

Reviewed: May 19, 2008
this was really nice. thanks to the other reviewers, I added cinnamon to the topping, used half white and half brown sugar and just mixed in the butter like making a pie crust. used 2T lemon juice and almost 1/2c OJ instead of water...oh, also, I used Granny Smith apples, very important for baking! I baked it at 400F for 40 mins. came out soooo good!

Blueberry Cornmeal Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2008
Thanks for sharing this recipe. I used it as a base and made a couple changes to suit our taste. I added the cornmeal to the milk and water, along with a squeeze of lemon, an egg, a pinch of sugar and some vanilla. This I let stand for five minutes, and added the flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda last (well, almost last, I added the blueberries dead last). I used a little more flour than listed, cos of the extra liquid. Cooked them in a nonstick pan with butter. Fantastic.
