Cindy's Turkey Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2011
I personally hated this recipe, however others in the family liked it so I will rate it 3 stars. I felt it was too salty, too weird in taste and unpalatable, however I am not a fan of peppers so that could be just be me. I love turkey, but this just didn't cut it for me.

Baby Carrots And Brussels Sprouts Glazed With Brown Sugar and Pepper

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2013
First of all it takes longer than 6-7 min to reduce the glaze. It won't be thick so if u like it that way u will either need to add more brown sugar or some cornstarch. This dish has a beautiful presentation with intense colors and looks great on the plate. It has a mix of favors; carrots pick up the light sweetness while the Brussels sprouts have the peppery, hearty flavor. It's an interesting mix. I made this for Xmas dinner side dish and we only had three ppl. I would recommend only making 1/4 of this recipe. It was way too much and can easily serve more than 8! Mine turned out tender with a lot of flavor, although I have tried other sprouts recipes on this site that I like better. If u like mixing flavors and want to try something different this might be the recipe for you.

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

Served it with sweet rice instead of regular rice. Was a hit! Sweetness contrasted nicely with the beef flavoring

Broccoli Coleslaw

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2014
I made it as per instructions. I just cut up a whole head of broccoli and did not use the slaw. I must say you really must marinate it overnight. Everything stays firm and not squishy but the oil seasoning doesn't begin to flavor the salad well until well after one hour. I initially felt that one cup of olive oil was too much but it really needs it. The oil is taken up by the vegetables and it's not oily at all. If u don't have sesame seeds on hand try slivered or sliced almonds. Either one works well. I thought this salad looked great but initially was not pleased but after marinating overnight it was quite delicious and pared very well with roasted chicken. Yum!! I will do it again just halve the recipe if u don't want a big bowl of it.

Fried Cabbage II

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2014
I would also recommend adding more bacon. I made this recipe according to exact directions and I have to say it wasn't quite as good as I have had, but I live in Deep South and they really know how to do vegetables, however they always add too much fat. In this case it's better with more fat. I like the lightness and crispness of the cabbage. Beautiful color and glazed sheen on the cabbage. I am always looking for simple dishes and this site is really the best. Love the ratings system and the chance to see how ppl have chosen to modify recipes. As I just think about this I am wondering if drained water chestnuts or maybe slice almonds would add some zip to this dish. Just a thought as the crunch is really good.

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2011
Just a really simple, lovely recipe that is a snap to make. I cut back the sugar and it is plenty sweet enough. Use it on anything and it makes the food!
