My favorite things to cook
My cooking tragedies
In restaurants, bacon is baked off in the oven on large sheetpans. Since cooks tend to be doing about a thousand things at any one time, the bacon, hidden in the oven, is often only remembered when you smell it burning, or worse, when Chef smells it burning. When I was a prep cook my knickname became "Oh, s--t!", my exclamation whenever I burned a pan. That knickname stuck with me for years.
