Cheese's Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
I tend to make this a bit differently from my sister... extra cheese, less onion, and crushed crackers instead of breadcrumbs. But it's a great base recipe!

Whipped Shortbread Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2005
After reading all the other ratings and some trial and error, I finally succeeded! The cookies are great! I whipped the butter on high speed in my kithcen aid seperatly first. Then I slowly added the dry ingredients and whipped them again on high speed. I don't think it's possible to over whip them... The first batch I cooked for 10 minutes(after reading the reviews) but the cookies just fell apart. So I cooked the next batch until the edges began to turn a slight golden color. Yummy! I drizzled milk chocolate over them once they cooled. Great Recipe!

Cookie Mix in a Jar III

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2005
I didn't actually bake the cookies, but I did package them and give them away as gifts and got rave reviews. I ended up seperating the two cups of oatmeal. I added the first cup and then the sugars and then the second cup at the top. It was easier to squish everything into the jar that way.

A Southern Fried Chicken

Reviewed: May 31, 2009
I made my own butter milk (1T lemon juice/1C milk) and marinated the chicken in the milk mixture and doubled the spices in the flour, but other than that followed the directions exactly. Good stuff!

Ranch Burgers

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2006
Great Recipe! I used "ritz" crackers instead of saltines(the buttery flavor went well with the ranch flavor), and dried minced onion instead of fresh(use less if you do this, the dried is more potent than the fresh). It's pretty cold here right now, definatly not grill season, so I cooked them under the broiler for 15 minutes on each side. The burgers were cooked all the way through but still juicy. Excellent!

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2010
Not a very good cookie... sugar cookies are supposed to be sweet, and these were not.

A new holiday favorite! Soft, chewy, and the flavor was definately gingerbread, but not harshly so. =)

Deviled Eggs I

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2009
Great basic recipe! I added a bit of sweet relish (just enough to give a hint of sweetness), a little more mayo, and sprinkled the paprika on top rather than mixing it in.

Baked Fudge Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2005
Well, I followed the recipe exactly... After baking the cake for the correct time it still wasn't done in the center. Forty minutes later it was done but the middle had sunk and there was a hard crust formed over the top... I ended up throwing it away. Maybe I screwed something up, I don't know, but I was very dissapointed.

My Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2005
The great thing about this recipe, you can alter it according to your tastes. We like beans so I doubled the amount of beans but drained the liquid so the chili would remain thick. I also didn't have fresh garlic and onions on hand so I used dried and it still tasted fine. As it's cooking you can add more of anything to adjust it to your liking.

Hot Artichoke Spinach Dip

Great recipe! Nice and thick and full of flavor! I altered it a bit to suit our tastes... substituted the heavy cream with cream cheese and doubled the garlic. Super good!

Jenn's Out Of This World Spaghetti and Meatballs

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2005
I only used the meatball recipe, but it was so good that I can't wait to try the sauce too! I used ground beef that had a very low fat content(I didn't want the fat renduring into my sauce). They were tender and flavorful! Great for pasta or even Meatball Subs!

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Great recipe! I altered it a bit though... used AP flour instead of bread flour, and added some spices: powdered garlic, basil, oregano, parsley, and thyme. Smells wonderful!

Mini Pumpkin Whoopie Pies

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2010
Five stars because the taste was awesome! They weren't terribly high though... maybe I should chill the dough? I also altered the filling: 16oz of Cream Cheese, 1/2C butter, 1T Vanilla, and 2C of Confectioners Sugar. Because they were flatter and larger I required more filling.

Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2010
Only four stars because I'm sure I did something wrong... The bread tastes divine, but my loaves fell while in the oven. I'll definitely try this again (and if it falls again, I'll probably continue to make this... that's how GOOD the flavor is!).
