Orange Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2007
Great recipe over all... The dough was a bit dry and crumbly when I went to roll it out after resting in the fridge all night, but after moistening it a bit with damp hands it was fine. Great cookies! And the Orange Cream Cheese Frosting from this site is perfect with them!

Apple Maple Crumble Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2006
I just took this out of the oven, and it smells wonderful! I nibbled it a bit and it's even better. I did cut back on the syrup, as most everyone suggested, to 1/2 a cup and added a bit of cinnamon. I ended up using 7 smallish apples. Everything else as done in the original recipe and I will definatly used this again! My house smells so yummy!

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2006
We loved it! Since finding this recipe, I've made it twice and both times we've not had leftovers. I passed this on to my cousin and even she liked it(she's not a big cooker and likes fairly simple meals)! Will be added to our regular meals list!

Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2006
Hooray for Karen K!!! I got my breadmaker for my birthday and after eagerly trying the recipe it came with, I was very dissapointed. So I came here... The bread is fantastic! I followed the recipe to the letter. The crust is light and flaky and the middle is soft and squishy... Definatly a keeper! Thanks Karen K for sharing your great recipe!!!

Savory Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2006
I made Sticky Buns! These were so good! I was a little worried as I was mixing the dough because it was not very firm at all. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to shape the rolls. After I let it rise the first time I ended up kneeding in quite a bit of flour(maybe a cup or so). If was soft enough so I didn't need to roll it out, I just pressed it. But it did hold it shape to make rolls, so I was happy. I did make a few changes(similar to those that others had made). I substituted brown sugar for the white sugar used in the gooey filling. It was very good, but not enough. I think next time I'll double the filling recipe and even put some on top of the rolls after I've assembled them and put them into the pan, you can never have too much sticky when eating sticky buns... And instead of dividing a box of cake mix in half, I just picked up a box of Jiffy yellow cake mix; very inexpensive and good, with no leftovers to worry about... ! And the icing was great. I added an extra tablespoon of milk because it was very stiff and hard to work with. It was still very sweet, and the butter flavor came through nicley. For something different, next time I may use orange extract instead of vanilla. Overall a great recipe, very versitle and very yummie!

Corn Chowder I

Reviewed: May 14, 2006
Yum, yum, yum! I made this chowder and it was sooooo good! Just what I was looking for. Nice and thick, with a really good flavor. I did add an extra can of creamed corn and omit the cheese. Other than that, followed the recipe too the letter. I made a batch of it, froze half and brought it to my grandparents. They love soup, especially homemade soups. Nana wants the recipe! It's that good!

Hamburger Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2006
Not bad, but I did alter the recipe a bit. I didn't have any eggs so I omitted that. I used about 2lbs of beef instead of 1 1/4lbs, 2T of dried minced onion instead of fresh, and 1 1/2C of shredded cheddar mixed into the beef mixture instead of 3/4C sprinkled on top. I also added 1T of worcestershire sauce to the beef mixture and a glaze made of 1/2C of ketchup and 1/3C of brown sugar on top of the "muffins." I really stuffed the muffin cups so I had to bake them a bit longer, almost an hour. I thought it was ok, kind of like a meatloaf, but the hubby really liked it and even my six year old ate it. Next time I'll try it with ground turkey(less fat and different flavor) or maybe a bit of bacon mixed in to give it a burger taste. Not a bad recipe, fun to play with.

Beef Stroganoff with Noodles

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2006
Great flavor! I did alter the recipe a bit though. I omitted the celery(we're just not celery people) and after reading all the other reviews I only put in a "shake" of seasoned salt and doubled the amount of cornstarch and water mixture. My husband loved it and even my six year old ate it. Definatly do this one again, but I may cut back on the Worcestershire just a little bit. That's a big flavor and it's kind of over powering...

Ranch Burgers

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2006
Great Recipe! I used "ritz" crackers instead of saltines(the buttery flavor went well with the ranch flavor), and dried minced onion instead of fresh(use less if you do this, the dried is more potent than the fresh). It's pretty cold here right now, definatly not grill season, so I cooked them under the broiler for 15 minutes on each side. The burgers were cooked all the way through but still juicy. Excellent!

Orange Glorious I

Sooo Yummie! It reminds me of shopping with my Nana when I was younger. We would stop at the food court and order these. I didn't have any ice in my freezer, but it was still good. Great quick breakfast! Thanks! *Update* I have since tried it with the ice cubes. Yum!

Italian Bread Bowls

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2005
I don't think I let them rise long enough... My house is typically very chilly as of late(I'm pregnant) so the loaves didn't rise enough to use them as a bread bowl. Maybe I'll try this recipe again later, when the house is warmer. The bread tasted good but it was very dense...

Mom's Ginger Snaps

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2005
Yummy! I actually messed up the recipe and they were still good, a fool proof recipe! I added the 1/3 C sugar to the cookie dough by mistake and they still tasted great. I did a second batch without the sugar mixed in and they were also really good. I'll definatly use this one again!

Cookie Mix in a Jar III

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2005
I didn't actually bake the cookies, but I did package them and give them away as gifts and got rave reviews. I ended up seperating the two cups of oatmeal. I added the first cup and then the sugars and then the second cup at the top. It was easier to squish everything into the jar that way.

My Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2005
Great recipe! Very moist and flavorful. The chunks of bread kind of threw me off so next time instead of ripping the bread I think I may either put it in the food processor for smaller pieces or just use bread crumbs.

Baked Fudge Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2005
Well, I followed the recipe exactly... After baking the cake for the correct time it still wasn't done in the center. Forty minutes later it was done but the middle had sunk and there was a hard crust formed over the top... I ended up throwing it away. Maybe I screwed something up, I don't know, but I was very dissapointed.

My Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2005
The great thing about this recipe, you can alter it according to your tastes. We like beans so I doubled the amount of beans but drained the liquid so the chili would remain thick. I also didn't have fresh garlic and onions on hand so I used dried and it still tasted fine. As it's cooking you can add more of anything to adjust it to your liking.

Jenn's Out Of This World Spaghetti and Meatballs

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2005
I only used the meatball recipe, but it was so good that I can't wait to try the sauce too! I used ground beef that had a very low fat content(I didn't want the fat renduring into my sauce). They were tender and flavorful! Great for pasta or even Meatball Subs!
