Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

I love this recipe! I followed the much appreciated advice of another reviewer- I removed the chicken to shred after cooking for 5 hours on low, tossed it back in the crock pot with one chopped yellow onion then let it cook for another hour. I served over rice. PERFECT!

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

I omitted the raisins, but it still tasted too fruity for my taste (not a knock against the recipe at all- just my preference). Next time, I will omit the coconut but keep the pineapple because it makes the cake very moist. However, I will puree the crushed pineapple for a more consistant texture. Per reviewer(s) advice, I used 2 cups of sugar (instead of 1 1/2) and added 1/4 tsp of allspice and 1/4 tsp of nutmeg.

Ed Zieba's Famous Family Pork Chops

Very nice and tender chops but was somewhat lacking in flavor (spice). The season salt just wasn't enough umph! My only change: I tossed in 16 oz. of chopped fresh mushrooms during the last 10 minutes of cooking.

Bacon Mushroom Chicken

This is the best chicken recipe. The sauce can be a little too salty from the bacon drippings, so I like to cook the bacon half way on the stove top, pat dry and then place on top of chicken 40 minutes into cooking the chicken. I use triple the heavy cream and if you're not concerned with carbs, wisk abit of flour in the sauce to thicken a little. If you are on a low carb diet, you can't get a better meal than this. The chicken comes out so tender and juicy, you could cut it with a fork.

Diet Soup

I love this recipe because you can personalize it so easily to fit your taste. I add one green pepper (chopped), one bunch of green onion (diced), one bunch of celery (diced), 2 chicken bullion cubes, one can of diced tomatoes, 3 dashes of hot sauce, 1 tsp. crushed red pepper, 1 tblsp. Italian seasoning. I omit the green beans and use only one packet of Lipton's onion. When the cabbage is almost tender, I add 16 oz of fresh bella mushrooms. Sometimes I'll add some ham to it. This makes a low calorie and very filling large pot of soup that will last a week in the fridge. You will not like this soup if you don't like cabbage. If this is the case, just omit it.

Crawfish Chowder

I doubled the cream cheese and corn, as a previous reviewer mentioned and used Old Bay Seasoning instead of cayenne. Also, I used one medium yellow onion, 5 small red potatoes (diced), fresh mushrooms, and 1 lb ground italian sausage all fried separately in a pan (w/ butter if needed) and Old Bay Seasoning and added to the soup. Instead of using 2 lbs of crawfish, i used 1 lb. If using sausage, 1 lb is plenty! My husband said it was the best chowder he has ever had. I agree!

I added 1/2 c more flour for a cakier cookie, which we prefer. I refrigerate the dough and make small batches so that I can have a warm cookie with coffee with 8 minutes notice. Also, I like to use parchment paper to bake on.

American Lasagna

I used 1 lb of ground sausage instead of beef and upped the diced tomatos to 40 oz. I also added cream cheese to the rigotta mix. I baked for 1 1/2 hour. It is so much better as left overs! I will prepare this one day in advance next time. Great recipe! 4 out of 5 stars. Good thing I read the reviews for important advice before cooking it!
