Spicy Black Bean Cakes

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2007
I made these tonight for my family who all have different tastes and everyone gobbled them down. I used less jalapeno just to be on the safe side because mine were rather large . Next time I'll use the full amount. A delicious and healthy recipe!

Best Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2008
My family loved this, I followed previous suggestions and used celery seed and garlic powder to cut down on salt . I also cut the soy sauce by 1/2 and used low salt soy sauce. I let it sit in sauce for a couple hours before breading and cooking . Very tasty

Mouth-Watering Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
My guests gobbled them up . I only used about 4oz of cream cheese and still had extra stuffing. I bought prepackaged stuffing mushrooms and although the caps were big they had almost no stems so that may be why the proportion seemed off . It seemed a bit too cheesey , so next time I'll add some crab or breadcrumbs . I took the little bit I had left over and spread it on toast and popped it under the broiler , Yum!

Real Hummus

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2012
A great recipe for a traditional hummus, I followed the authors revised recipe and came out with a nice creamy hummus with good flavor. I reserved half and tarted up the remaining with extra garlic, smoked paprika and cayenne. The parsley, paprika and olive oil garnishes add more flavor and visual appeal. Way better than store bought .

Homemade Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2012
Great recipe. My husband made me a large wooden tortilla press so I could make flour and corn tortillas. I used this recipe and had great success with it . I found that the tortilla would shrink back when removed from the press . I let the dough rest covered for a half an hour and they did'nt shrink back as much.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2012
I was looking for a true New England style cornbread and this is it. I was raised on southern cornbread and but when I moved to Boston , I found they make cornbread a little sweeter and not as crumbly up here. I usually drench my cornbread with honey but this doesn't need it at all . Thanks it's a s good as any I've had in Boston.
