I love making dim sum soups, breads and fresh vegetable dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family insisits I was Chinese in my former life. Most of our everyday meals are Chinese. Birthdays are a favorite , it's when you get to choose the meal and cake. I always make a huge batch of Cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning, we deliver them to our neighbors hot out of the oven.
My cooking tragedies
Once I mistakenly used baking soda instead of cornstarch in a stirfry recipe. Lesson learned always label if you change containers.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread
I was looking for a true New England style cornbread and this is it. I was raised on southern cornbread and but when I moved to Boston , I found they make cornbread a little sweeter and not as crumbly up here. I usually drench my cornbread with honey but this doesn't need it at all . Thanks it's a s good as any I've had in Boston.

Homemade Flour Tortillas
Great recipe. My husband made me a large wooden tortilla press so I could make flour and corn tortillas. I used this recipe and had great success with it . I found that the tortilla would shrink back when removed from the press . I let the dough rest covered for a half an hour and they did'nt shrink back as much.

Real Hummus
A great recipe for a traditional hummus, I followed the authors revised recipe and came out with a nice creamy hummus with good flavor. I reserved half and tarted up the remaining with extra garlic,smoked paprika and cayenne. The parsley, paprika and olive oil garnishes add more flavor and visual appeal. Way better than store bought .
