Corn On The Cob (Easy Cleaning and Shucking)

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2014
I was a little bit leery about this. In the microwave? and all the husks and strands come right off? Nah, not possible.... Guess what? IT IS POSSIBLE!!!!! I was floored!!! Love it!!!! Tho i will say. It's good for two ears. If you're having a cook-out? Up to you. But this does work.

I usually microwave the potatoes a bit so they crisp up more when cooking.

Chicken Noodle Casserole I

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2013
I made this last nite and the only thing I did different was use the cream of chicken with herbs, which I can't see making that much of a difference. I have to say I didn't care for this- tasted too sour-creamy to me. I'm going to try some leftovers for tonite's dinner, based on reviews saying it tasted better the next day..... Let's hope so, considering I doubled it.......

Shepherd's Pie Complete

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2012
This was a very good Shephard's Pie. I followed the recipe to a T, with the exception that I used homemade mashed potatoes. Also, after reading the reviews, I cut the gravy down to a little bit less than 2 jars. I shared with some coworkers and they LOVED it. Will def be making this again!!

Beefaroni

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2011
This is the 2nd time I have made this recipe. 1st time followed recipe exactly as written- kind of bland. This time seasoned the meat (1 1/2 lbs) with lots of garlic, salt, pepper, italian seasoning, etc. Used two cans of Hunts Garlic & Onion pasta sauce- which I did not season at all. 2 cups cheddar mixed with pasta and meat/ sauce. Then 2 cups cheddar on top last ten minutes of cooking. Made a big difference in flavor. Everyone loved it.Will def be making again- mabe using a little more sauce next time so leftovers aren't as dry.

Stewed Squash

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2011
Way too much water!!!! It is SO fine without the water. Squash has a lot of water in it naturally. So, in my opinion, no water necessary at all.

Easy French Dip Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2011
Very easy to make and tastes awesome. The only thing I did differently was to lightly butter the rolls, add a touch of garlic powder and stick them under the broiler to brown them up a bit. Take them out, add the beef and cheese and stick them back under for a bit. Really gives a nice flavor to the sandwich.

Jamie's Minestrone

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
Awesome recipe. Very flavorful and basically a healthy meal. I made this pretty much to the recipe, except there are a LOT of veggies, and I like my soup with more broth. So I kept the veggie ratio the same (actually added a couple of more carrots) and added appr 6 more cups of broth to it- with a total of 10 cups- 6 cups chicken and 4 cups beef (I used no water), then seasoned to taste. It made enough to put several containers in the freezer. I will definitely make this again. Forgot- I also added two cans of low-sodium diced tomatoes with basil, oregano, and garlic.

Garlic Spaghetti

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2011
Very good dish for a "quick meal" night. I added a little butter to the oil. Once I drained the pasta, added it directly to oil pan and heated it through on low heat. Pasta really absorbs the flavors this way.

Homemade Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2010
Very good recipe! But, honestly, I ALWAYS make at least 1 1/2 to 2 times the cheese sauce when making any mac & cheese. This way it never dries out, and it's just as good the next day. All's I know is, my fam always loves and comes back for more!

Smothered Meatballs

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
Made this for the Eagles/ Redskins game. Nobody was impressed- very little got eaten. Everyone kept saying it was "missing something". Meatballs were not very flavorful (and this was AFTER I added extra seasonings to the meat), and gravy/sauce was bland. If I make this again, and that's a big IF, I would def have to changes things up. OH well, at least the Redskins won!

Broccoli Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
OMG- this was the best soup I've eaten in a very long time, and I love me some soup!. Had friends in from out of town- made a big pot and it's all gone. They said it tasted better than Panera's. Made a few changes after reading reviews... (I usually make new recipes exact, but....) doubled the velveeta, used fresh broccoli (about 1 3/4 lbs., and used a 1/4 cup flour with 1 1/2 cups more chicken broth- 2/3 cup cornstarch sounded like too much...... just the right consistency. Very glad I read the reviews first. Oh, I forgot- threw in a couple of handfuls of Monterey Jack cuz I had it in the fridge. This soup will be come a staple in my house this winter.

Italian Tortellini Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2010
I made this last night and it was excellent. I forgot to buy the Roma tomatoes so I used a couple of cans of diced. Next time I will try it with the Romas. Only other difference was I left out the kidney beans- had enough veggies in it already. Very flavorful soup and will def make again!

Cousin David's Slow Cooker Brisket

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2010
This was an ok recipe. I only used 1 jar of chili sauce mixed with a little BBQ sauce and minced garlic instead of the powder. I have decided I'm not a big fan of chili sauce. I used a 3# brisket and took it out of the slowcooker after 7 hours. 10 hours would have been way too long. Meat was very tender. Doubt if I would make a brisket this way again.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2010
I have made this soup numerous times and it comes out great everytime. The only thing I do differently is use chicken broth instead of water- adds so much flavor. The only other thing I do is DOUBLE the recipe. Sometimes even that's not enough!! :)

Scalloped Potatoes II

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2009
Made this recipe for dinner last night. Like many other reviewers, I was looking for a recipe like my Mom used to make. This was pretty close. Like her, I added ham to the layers and it came out very good. Thickened up as it sat on the stove. I also made a smaller pan with cheese, for my son. I liked it much better without the cheese. I will definitely make again.
