About this Cook
Taught myself to cook while in high school. Both parents worked and it was my responsibility to decided the menu, shop for the groceries and prepare the meal. My mom left money on the kitchen windowsill everyday, I walked to/from the store and cooked the meal. I thought it was utter child abuse at the time because all my friends were off doing fun things. Now I appreciate what I learned from this experience.
My favorite things to cook
Indian (curry) dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
To this day, all us kids (now in our 50's & 60's) tease mom about her burning of the Bake & Serve style rolls. We call them "Burn & Serves".
My cooking triumphs
Any evening I get a dinner on the table is a triumph.
My cooking tragedies
I had 3 butterflied & marinated Cornish Game Hens all prepared and ready to go in the oven for guests. I went upstairs to freshen up before they arrived. When I returned to the kitchen, my dog had pulled 2 of them off the counter and devoured them. We went to a restaurant that night.

Apple Crumb Pie
Amazing! Soaked raisins in Amaretto as another reviewer suggested and used Grandma Ruth's pie crust. So very delicious!

Monday Night Mac and Cheese
This turned out awesome (even though I made it on a Thursday, not Monday, lol!) I was skeptical of the directions, as were other reviewers and read them several times to make sure I was reading them correctly. So I revised the recipe to 8 servings, didn't know what the % of cream was so I used 1/2 & 1/2, used cheddar cheese, put it in a casserole dish, topped with more grated cheese & paprika and baked at 375 for about 15 minutes while the salad was being made. Oh so easy and delicious!
