About this Cook
I am a 28 year old living with my "better" half, and 2 lovely dogs. I have enjoyed cooking ever since I was able to reach the stove, I enjoyed learning from and watching my mother cook& was one of her real joys in life to create something in the kitchen and watch us all enjoy it that brought happiness in her short life, and I believe that has been passed on to me!
My favorite things to cook
Cakes, Cookies, Desserts are my specialty but I perfer anything "downhome, southern style"
My favorite family cooking traditions
always always have at least 1 3 course meal during the day...and start out with a good breakfast, gravy included! *lol*
My cooking triumphs
I recently baked a Honey Bun cake, though at first it was difficult * the cake itself very thick and hard t work with* but the end result was gone in an hr! I was soooooo proud of ME!!
My cooking tragedies
last Easter I was boiling eggs to make a potato salad, I put them on boiling *on medium high* got busy talking to my grandmother on the phone forgot about the eggs and all of a sudden I hear a loud pop and sizzling I go.. "OH NO MY EGGS" I hung up on my gramma ran to the kitchen and boy was I surprised to see the pan my eggs were in had burnt the red coloring of it off.. of course the pan was dry as could be and 2 out of the 6 eggs had busted, but in the end I think about that now and laugh, and ALWAYS watch my eggs if they need to be hardboiled * lol*

Cracker Candy
I had heard about this from a friend prior to finding this recipe! She told me that it was absolutely delicious and so I decided to search for it here on Allrecipes. I came upon this recipe (it was the highest rated) and I must say I absolutely can see & taste why! I just finished breaking it up into pieces after I let it set up overnight in the fridge! How marvelous this is! Who would have thought crackers could be so good? The only modification I made was in the sugar area since I had read a lot of the reviews in which folks said to use brown sugar instead of white. It came out fabulously!! I used 1 cup of brown sugar to the 2 sticks of butter. Also, I covered my pan with waxed paper before baking off the crackers and sugar mixture. It made for a much easier clean up! Wonderful recipe! I am sharing it with all my friends! This is certainly a keeper and yields quite a lot of candy.

JIF(R) Buckeyes
I just made these this past weekend as I was having a craving for them. My mother used to make these for the holidays and since she is no longer here I wanted to not only satisfy my craving for the taste, but to also have something to take me back to the days of her making them and BOY! did these do the job! They are soo good! It took about 2 1/2 cups of the sugar for me to get them to roll up into the perfect ball shape, I popped them into the freezer for about 10 minutes and got my chocolate and shortening melted and here's a tip for dipping them. I put 4 or 5 balls into the bowl where the chocolate has been melted, roll that around with a spoon and then lift them up with a fork to release all the extra chocolate! These are a definite keeper! Thank you for taking me back to years long since past! This is staying in my recipe box for sure!

Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak
I just made this today and BOY oh BOY I couldn't imagine anything being anymore delicious or easy to make! My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I couldn't believe how tender the meat got and the only thing I changed was that I added the green pepper in about 2 hours before the end of cook time so they would not get mushy. Came out perfect! This is definitely going into the "keepers" and *yummy* files!
