About this Cook
I am married, and the "mother" of Ozzy & Kojak (2 african grey parrots), Nipper (Green cheek), and Rocky (black lab). We own a small dessert cafe' & are building a commercial production bakery/kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
Pecan pralines, cakes, brownies, steak, chicken, pizzelles, hand made chocolates, chicken salad......the list goes on...
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have fond memories of my step-dad getting up very early Christmas morning to make Tom-N-Jerry's. I would wake up to the sound of the mix-master and would find him in the kitchen with my mother's apron tied around his round belly. We spent the entire day with our family and numerous friends who would stop by to visit, and of course to taste my step-dad's famous Tom-N-Jerry's! Those were the best of times, and I so wish I could step back in time and re-live those great times....The Good Ole Days!
My cooking triumphs
I attended King Arthur Bread Baking School (2 professional courses) and have finally learned how to bake bread. BIG triumph for me!
My cooking tragedies
I had my entire family over for Christmas dinner one year. Everything was perfect except for the boneless ham that I had cooked without removing BOTH of the outer plastic casings! We all laughed about it, and the ham was cooked perfectly!

Chocolate Pecan Pie I
This was not only a super easy recipe, but the results were great! I made it exactly as stated, and I found the coffee was a nice compliment to the chocolate. You don't really taste that there's coffee in the pie, but rather a nice hint of mocha. If I didn't know it was in the pie, I never would have known. One thing to point out is that I had enough filling for 2 full 9" pie shells (not deep dish, purchased in the freezer section at my local grocery store)rather than just one. That was great since I was making the pie for a gift.....then we had another one to try ourselves! It was delicious, rich and a perfect pie you will be proud to serve! This has now become my husbands favorite pecan pie!

Pizzelles II
Great recipe! I used butter instead of margarine, and added anise seeds (2 and 1/2 teaspoons)to the batter. They turned out great, light and crispy. I noticed others had trouble with them crisping up, and that could be caused by using margarine that has a high percentage of water in it. I have never tried it with margarine, as I am very happy using butter instead.

Chocolate Babka
This is a great recipe! After reading other reviews, I decided to add an extra 1/4 cup sour cream, and an additional 1/2 cup of chocolate chips. I baked it 15 minutes longer (after covering w/foil) & it turned out moist, chocolatey & delicious. My husband loved it! I will certainly make it again & again!
