About this Cook
Love to cook, drink wine and of course the occasional dirty martini! Pretty hectic life, kids off in different directions, husband travels frequently, I have a fairly demanding job, so cooking is definitely my way of relaxing. At the end of the day, love to pour a glass of wine, and cook a great dinner. LOVE TO BAKE!
My favorite things to cook
Soups, anything Italian, love to try new recipes. (Total cookbook, cooking magazine junkie!) Love to make cheesecake, but don't make it too frequently as I have been known to eat it for breakfast.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Anytime we are all in the kitchen together. Our daughter is off at college, out of state, so when she comes home we love to cook together. My mother is an amazing cook, and has taught me so much, we are always together during the holidays, drinking wine (sense a theme?) and cooking together. Every Christmas, my husband and I have a huge crew of family and friends over for Fried Turkey, everyone brings their favorite dish, usually a family recipe. It's a great day of terrific food and wonderful memories.
My cooking triumphs
Anytime I try something new and my family gamely digs in...
My cooking tragedies
Too many to list, but each one is a learning experience! The dog eating the Easter Ham probably ranks up there...

The Old Boy's Strawberry Pie
Found this recipe last spring, and it has become a favorite. Did not change a thing (except I use Pillsbury pie crust when I don't have time to make crust). A beautiful, simple, delicous pie.

Buffalo Chicken Burgers with Blue Cheese Dressing
Great recipe! Added more hot sauce and cooked them inside on a grill pan because I was worried they would fall apart on our gas grill (and it was 102 degrees outside). Just delicious!

Mouse's Macaroni and Cheese
Easy, great tasting mac and cheese for those who like it mild. Made it exactly as directed, except used buttered, toasted panko breadcrumbs for the top. Made it for a 4th of July party along with a spicy version for the adults. Both the kids and adults loved it. Mac and cheese is one of my favorite food groups(yes it absolutely is a food group!) and I must have 20 different recipes that I go to. This is a terrific, easy, creamy version that is perfect for pot lucks and buffets, doesn't dry out and tastes like comfort food at it's best. Nothing fancy, just yummy.
