About this Cook
There are few things I enjoy more than whipping up a batch of delicious goodies and handing them out to family and friends. I have been baking since I was in elementary school. I have five children and I'm teaching them all how to cook. My oldest daughter, 2, is an avid baker. She may not be able to read the recipe but she can do just about everything else, including crack an egg.
My favorite things to cook
In this house, we love to make sweets. My favorite recipes are Clone of a Cinnabon, Delicious Ham & Potato soup, and Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili. Not to mention every kind of cookie imaginable.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have a biweekly "pizza night" with kid easy pizzas. We take biscuit dough, smash it down flat add a little sauce and top with our favorites. The kids love it and it's quick and easy. Another family favorite is our kid friendly gingerbread houses. We use graham cracker squares to construct mini gingerbread houses and then let the kids go to town decorating them. Another cheap, fun, and easy family night.
My cooking triumphs
Nearly all of my recipes, both family secret recipes and recipes off of Allrecipes.com have been award winning. The most recent being my variation on Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili. Our church had a chili cook off with 11 entries. There were 5 judges who had to sample each and then 30 members who were waiting to chow down on the remains. Not only did my chili take first place by a long shot but after making a double batch and being stuck in a pool with 10 other chili's my crock pot came back scraped cleaning with people asking for more. Everyone else had tons of leftovers. I'm especially proud because that was my first time making White Chicken Chili.
My cooking tragedies
I haven't had any...yet

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili
Based on other reviews I was prepared to alter the recipes as follows: cut out jalapeno peppers, double the green chile peppers, substitute 1 can of chicken broth with cream of chicken soup, and use 4 cans of beans w/ one can mashed. However, as I was making the chili I was worried about it becoming too soupy. I drained the cans of beans before adding them. After I added two cans, I thought it look like enough beans so that is all I used. I have five young children so I cut the cayenne pepper by 1/2. The thickness came out perfect...not too soupy, and it wasn't too spicy either. Will definately make again. Thanks for a great recipe

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup
This is delicious! I was on here trying to find something to make for dinner with what little I had available. I saw a recipe for potato soup and decided that it sounded good. I have my own recipe that is delicious but we recently moved and I can't find it. So I did a search for potato soup and found this recipe. Delicious, quick, and easy! I read some of the reviews and adjusted as I saw necessary: I didn't have celery or onion on hand so I skipped those (I rarely use them anyway), someone said that the soup wasn't thick enough so I added a little extra flour to the rue and it worked wonders. I also added some red pepper because I like mine to have a kick. I also added the remains of a package of shredded cheddar cheese - this will make it creamier and help to thicken it up a bit.

Chocolate Zucchini Cake I
Almost identical to my mom's recipe which I have been craving for at least two years. Instead of sour milk I used sour cream and for the topping I mixed 1/4 c. brown sugar and the chocolate chips and sprinkled on top prior to baking. Fantastic! *I do think that the cloves are a little strong so I may cut the amount in half when I remake it tomorrow :)
