I am a 27 year old married woman with three daughters! I just gave birth recently to our new edition! My passion in life is to bake and I love coming to allrecipes for new inspirations!
My favorite things to cook
I have a passion for baking that I didn't realize until about 7 years ago. I began with box desserts as young as maybe 10 and progressed from there. Cookies are my favorite treat to bake, but thats probably because I love eating them so much! Besides baked goods, I love to try anything southern. I love referencing Paula Deens cookbooks for new and interesting ideas for meals becuase I just know that they will be good! However, I love trying new things so if it looks and sounds good, then I'll try it. Ina Garten is actually one of my favorite cooks as well and love her cookbooks.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite family cooking traditions would definitely have to be holiday baking time. It is something that my Grandmother started but never really got us kids in the kitchen with her. She would make these enormous cookie platters and send them to our house. Now that I am older and have a daughter I make it our number one holiday activity to do together because I use to want it so bad as a little girl myself. I figure that when I have grandkids, I can pass our tradition on to them.
My cooking triumphs
Making cream puffs for the first time! As simple as they are to make, I was so very intimidated by the process! When they were done and gobbled down by my family I was too proud!
My cooking tragedies
The time that I attempted to make a baked chicken dish that was stuffed with ham and cheese. I am not a good judge when it comes knowing when meat is done or not so I wanted to make sure my chicken was not raw. I had to have baked these two thinly beaten pieces of chicken for about an hour and a half, at least! I was checking them by cutting into a piece but it was pink!! LOL, my husband finally took them out of the oven when I voiced my concern. We cut into them and they tasted like cardboard!! So nasty and dry, it was a disaster...we still laugh about till this day!
