Johnny's Spice Rub

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2014
SO GOOD! I used smoked paprika and it added a little bit of oomph. We rubbed this on ribs and they were the best I'd ever tasted. I've been looking for a long time for a good dry rub recipe...and this is it!

Beer Batter Fish Made Great

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2012
I really shouldn't be rating this recipe as I didn't really follow it. I used almost a half and half ratio with flour and beer, but tweeked it a little bit. I used 1 1/2 cup flour to almost a whole bottle of beer. There was about 1/4 cup left in the bottle. It was too thick was a half and half ratio. I added freshly ground pepper and alot of garlic powder. I let it sit for an hour. I also floured the fish before I coated it with the beer batter. I also drained the fish on a paper grocery bag and it stayed SO crispy. It was AMAZING! I LOVED it! The best beer better I have EVER had!!

Shrimp Scampi Bake

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2012
It was okay. I even added a bunch more spices and it was still lacking in flavor. I'm not sure what exactly it needed though. I did cut the butter in half and that was still plenty of butter. I couldn't imagine what the whole amount would be like! I liked the ease of this recipe, it was just lacking a bit in flavor.

Pizza Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2012
DELICIOUS! I used the toppings from a leftover Super Supreme pizza and the eggs were SO delicious! I didn't use any milk or oil though. They turned out perfect! I used 6 eggs and the toppings from half of a large pizza. Perfect quantities!

Baked Potato

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2011
I followed one review of poking holes in them and microwaving for 15 minutes. Then I brush with olive oil and sea salt and bake them at 375 for about 20 minutes and they are perfect!! I use Yukon gold potatoes...they are the best!

A Firefighter's Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2011
As is, this was just okay. I would use more bbq sauce and some liquid smoke. I would also add an egg or two to bind it together. It was very moist it just didn't stay together like I wanted it to. Otherwise I enjoyed the different flavors, it was just a bit too bland for me.

Oklahoma Cheese Grits

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
This is fantastic! Very delicious! I followed the recipe, except instead of using 1 pound of gross processed cheese, I used 8oz of sharp cheddar cheese. I also didn't add any of the seasoned salt or salt. Next time, I would double the Worcestershire and the hot sauce. Would definately make again!

Basic Crepes

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2011
These crepes were so easy and delicious! I followed the recipe exactly, although my batter did come out a little lumpy as some reviews stated. Next time, I will try what one user suggested of mixing the eggs and wet ingredients and then sifting in the flour. I also thought that these were just a bit too thick for crepes. Next time, I might add an additional 1/4 cup of milk. I served these stuffed with bacon, scrambled eggs and sharp cheddar cheese inside. They were fantastic!

Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2011
These were pretty good. I used skim milk instead of the water and pretty much doubled all the spices. I still thought they were a bit bland and needed something more. Will try these again but will add alot more for seasonings.

Ham and Shell Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2011
This is a great basic pasta salad! Although, I did omit the oil and lemon juice. I also did not add salt as there would be plenty of salt from the ham. Other than that, it was delicious!

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2011
Fantastic! I actually followed this recipe to a T and they were wonderful. They could have used just a little something, although I'm still not sure what that is...maybe some garlic? I grilled these and served them with Ranch dressing and they were great!

Red, White and Blue Burgers

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2011
These were great! I did feel that they needed alot more for seasoning though. I added some worcestershire sauce and quite a bit of pepper. I also used about twice as much bleu cheese. Overall, these were delish!

Buffalo Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2011
This is a fantastic recipe! I used chicken breast in this becuase I liked that better than the ground chicken. I also used closer to a cup of Frank's than a half cup. It needed a little more Buffalo flavor.
