Very good. I'd definitely make these again.

Cincinnati Chili I

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2009
This was a big hit with my family. I followed the recipe fairly closely except that I replacedbeef with pork and increased spices a smidge. It tasted pretty close to the Skyline Chili my husband and I used to get, way back when.

Betty's Gingersnaps

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2005
Very, very good. Crunchy on the edges but soft and chewy in the center. The sugar sprinkle on the finished cookie is a nice touch but they're plenty sweet enough without rolling them in the extra sugar.

Flax Seed Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2006
A healthy mix of ingredients that resulted in a nice tasting carrot bread. Thumbs up from my 6 year old. NOTE: Although I tested it with a toothpick, mine still turned out a little goopy in the middle.

Ginger Pear Crisp

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2005
Not bad but a bit bland, even with the ginger and cloves. If I try this again I'd add cinnamon and kick up the ginger and cloves a touch. I had a LOT of juice in the pan after baking.

Umm Ali

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2006
I may be to blame for the pastiness and blah flavor of my attempt at Umm Ali. First of all I left it on the counter almost 30 minutes before bakingand then, because I wanted to keep it warm until we were ready for dessert, I left it in the oven for 20 extra minutes at 200. It was pasty and lacked the moistness of a good bread pudding-type of dessert. I'd like to try again with out the extended warming.

Crunchies

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2009
My batch should have been called Crumblers instead of Crunchers. While I give this 5 stars for flavor I give it 1 star for texture. My bars were extremely dry and fragile. I followed measurements precisely but I used unsweetened coconut which does not seem as moist as sweetened coconut. I also substituted a mix of honey and corn syrup for the golden syrup. Perhaps that affected the moisture as well? Anyway - - it made very yummy crumbs.

Room 157 Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2009
I'd actually rate these 3.5 stars. Not exactly WOW but not bad -- a bit more cake-y than I like. I did add almond extract but I think, if I make them again, I may also add chopped almonds or walnuts for a little extra texture/flavor.

Oil Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2005
I was a little disappointed in the way my attempt turned out. Maybe I flubbed up somewhere with ingredients or preparation. Anyway, my batch was sticky and hard to roll and, when finished, tasted bland and dry. I was glad that they used oil vs. margarine, shortening or butter but I doubt if I'll make them again.
