Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2012
This is how my gma has always made french toast, only she uses brown sugar rather than white. So very yummy!!

Old Fashioned Coconut Cream Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2012
I have made this several times using Silk brand Pure Coconut milk (vanilla flavored) instead of the half and half (making the recipe dairy free for my son that is allergic to dairy) and it is FANTASTIC!! It is a favorite in our family!!

This was excellent! I added a bit more cheese because, well.... what isn't better with more cheese! It was wonderful!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2011
Oh Baby! This is amazing!! The only thing that I would change is to use red beans or another can of black beans rather than the chili beans..... I felt that the chili beans made it to "chili-ish." But OH BABY, it was good!

These are wonderful! I used frozen sprouts, but sliced them in half after boiling per many recommendations. Very tasty!

As written this is a 4 star recipe. I doctored it as many folks recommended and it made it a 5 star! Yum!

Alice Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
Very good! I thought it was a bit salty... but maybe next time I will tweak a few thing and try and make it less salty. Other than that it was wonderful! By the way, I used olive oil on the mushrooms rather than butter.

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2010
My husband took first place in a Chili cook off at church with this recipe. The only change that we made was using chicken broth in place of beer. It was wonderful!

Venison Stew I

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2010
Oh. My. Word. This stew is awesome! The only change that I made was using beef stock instead of water. Because of this I didn't add the salt. It was AMAZING!

Amish Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2010
We prefer this with sausage only because it is much cheaper per pound than bacon. It's a regular in our dinner rotation at home. My guys love brupper (breakfast for supper)! It's a great recipe. I am out of cottage cheese so I am subbing ricotta and we'll see how it turns out!

Chicken Florentine Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2010
Oh. My. Word. This is wonderful! I tweaked it a bit after reading some of the reviews. I used fresh spinach and sauteed it with the garlic, butter and mushrooms. I also cut the chicken into tenders, floured and seared them. Then layered them in with everything else to finish baking. I served it over whole wheat linguini and it was to die for! My three and six year old boys had seconds and would have had more if we hadn't eaten it all! It's the tastiest way that I have ever eaten spinach!

I made this using Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce rather than the sauce provided, and they were great!

Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2010
These are wonderful! Just make sure you use regular PB, not reduced fat, it makes a big difference! Also, be sure to press these down a bit, they don't flatten at all in the oven!

Avocado Chicken Wraps

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2010
The flavor on these is amazing, but they are kind of hard to keep together when you roll them. I might try more avacado next time and see if that makes a difference.

Easy to Remember Pie Crust

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
This is the recipe that my grandma has used for years. We usually add a pinch of salt, and I like butter flavored shortening. It doubles nicely for a two crust recipe (ie: apple or cherry)

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: May 24, 2009
I thought it was a good base recipe, but it really needed some zing. Maybe a little pepper jack, or a sharper, more flavorful cheese. I almost tasted like mac and cheese with potatoes. I will use it as a base again, but will make some upgrades!

Snappy Green Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2009
I made mine with fresh green beans, red wine vinegar, bacon with just a little grease (just enough to barely cover the bottom of the skillet), onion and fresh minced garlic. I needed to add a little water about half way thru to finish cooking the beans, but OH BABY was it good when it was done! I only gave it 4 stars because it was amazing with changes... as written, it's 4 stars, how I made it it's 5 stars!

Turkey a la King

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
Great base recipe! I added carrots and onions, and used a half pound of mushrooms (we love mushrooms in our family!!). I thought it needed a bunch of salt and pepper. Maybe next time I'll add a little celery and just a touch of garlic.... It was very tasty over egg noodes, would be good over biscuits too!

Easy Tuna Casserole

A good base recipe but made as written, I thought it was kind of bland.... I might try some of the suggestions in the other reviews to pep it up a little next time.
