Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2005
This was the first homemade soup I ever made and it turned out great! So delicious and creamy without being too heavy.

Winter Fruit Salad with Lemon Poppyseed Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2005
I made this for Thanksgiving this year and my family asked me to make it again for Christmas! Beautiful AND tasty. I substituted 1T dried minced onion in a pinch and dressing still turned out great!

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2005
I've made these a few times but last time I forgot to add the butter (just missed that step) and although the dough was hard to get together, they still turned out tasty! A bit more crumbly than the original, but I think I'll cut the butter way down from now on, to maybe half a stick.

Easy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2006
I will never buy store-bought granola bars again! My husband and I love trail mix so raisins, peanuts and mini M&M's were the perfect combo. I added 1/3 cup wheat germ for added texture/crunch. Yum!

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2006
Good, easy starter recipe! After reading reviews, I increased the garlic to a heaping tablespoon but it still wasn't enough. Excellent texture, moist and juicy. I will play with the spices to suit my tastes but definitely worth keeping. Thanks!!!

Aunt Betty's French Dressing

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2006
My new favorite! If you like French dressing, you'll love this. And it takes stuff we usually have around the house so I can whip up more anytime. Thank you!!!

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2006
I will never buy alfredo in a jar again! This recipe refrigerates well and made 3 dinners for my husband and I. One suggestion I would make is to ensure that the milk is warmed through before adding parmesan, otherwise it doesn't melt too easily. Very tasty!

Cajun Seafood Pasta

Reviewed: May 24, 2006
OH MY GOODNESS - this recipe was phenomenal!!! We love spicy and it was plenty spicy. I'm not a fan of scallops so I just used more shrimp and it was perfect. Not exactly healthy, but a wonderful treat.

Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2006
Great blend of flavors - if you like the flavor of spinach, I would definitely use fresh, especially now when it's in season. Also, to cut down on fat/carbs/calories, I use 3 tortillas instead of pie crust (I stole this from some cookbook). You can get different flavors that way too.

German Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2006
These are great - and easy with stuff I usually have in the house! A good sidedish with quiche or omelets. The potatoes do turn a weird pink color after shredding in the food processor but they turn out fine after frying.

Spicy Pumpkin and Sweet Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2006
I thought this recipe was okay... I liked the "spice rub" idea and the flavor was great but I couldn't get the consistency to come out right. I put it back into the food processor twice to get it creamier with no luck. I added cream and that helped, but not nearly as healthy! I may keep working on it, but not our favorite as it is right now.

Pumpkin Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2006
My favorite soup recipe so far this season! It's definitely easier to just roast the pumpkin in halves with the skin on, then scoop out the flesh later. My husband isn't a big fan of nutmeg so I used cumin instead (as another reviewer suggested) and it was the perfect mix of savory and sweet. I will definitely make again.

Chinese Cold Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2006
This sauce was PERFECT! I'll never buy Thai peanut sauce again, this is WAY better. I made this a hot dish last night and it was fantastic. I used whatever veggies I had on hand (cabbage, sunchokes, carrots) and it was a big hit. Definitely one for the rotation! Thanks!!!

Health Nut Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2006
These are GREAT! My husband couldn't even tell that they were healthy. I know I'll be using this as the base recipe for many alternatives... The only thing I didn't have on-hand was buttermilk so I took other reviewers' suggestions and did half light sour cream and half milk. Next time I'll try to use honey or agave as a sugar alternative. Thanks!!!

Just "okay" for us - probably won't make again. Came out a little dry and bland.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2006
Amazing soup!! I took advise of other reviewers and added black beans - definitely a good idea. Also tossed in chicken still frozen and shredded about an hour before serving - worked like a charm. Just finished the leftovers yesterday and I can't wait to make again!! Tortilla strips are easier with cooking spray instead of oil and I like to add salt, garlic powder and a little cumin to them before baking.

Broccoli Cheese Soup III

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2007
This is my new favorite broccoli soup recipe! Better than you can get at a restaurant. I pureed about half of the broccoli after cooking it to make it creamier. Also, I accidentally grabbed one can of cream of mushroom soup with the cream of celery and didn't notice until I had already opened it... I used it anyway, it was fine - I may stick with that as my family loves mushrooms :)

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2007
AWESOME! I took other reviewers' advice and left out the extra sugar from the salsa, but otherwise made this exactly. Chips were delicious and I know I'll use the fruit salsa in many other applications... We love this for dessert. Thanks for the post!
