Justin's Hoosier Daddy Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2006
great recipe!!!! it seems a little strange / not so spectacular when making, but turns out great!!! if yiou like a little meatier add extra 1/2 pound ground beef. and i would cut back on hot spice a tad - though my husband loved, it was a tad too hot for me :)

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2006
I have been making a very similar pot roast to this one for many years - the recipe was my aunts. I use only one can of cream of mushroom soup and then up the water to 3 cups. You can also cook the pot roast in a roasting pan in the over for 4 hours at 350 degrees and it turns out great also!!! Sooo easy and moist!!! My very picky husband loves it!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2006
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!! Best recipe I've ever made from this entire site! I made one a month back for a neighbor, but never got to taste till I made some last night! Best apple pie EVER - and sooooo easy (I've never made pies beside pumpkin before) - and I even used the generic store brand premade crusts (deep dish) - rolled out top one to make lattice. Pie firms up after cooling. I used McIntosh and Jonathan apples - can't wait to try with granny smith apples. Don't use red delicious - I've heard they fall apart when baking. Yummy!!!! Thank you - this will become an annual tradition around here :) PS - bake on a cookie sheet - filing boils over....

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2007
This is very good - and very easy to make. However, I'd only give it a 3 star until to totally cools and has been refrigerated for a day - the texture thickens up a lot and tastes much better. Great for making in advance for turkey day:) Thanks!

Pumpkin Cheesecake Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2007
Ehhh - I was so excited at the prospect of a different pumpkin dessert, but this wasn't that great - pretty easy to make, however I was looking for a more cheesecaky flavor - someone said something about adding a layer of plain cheesecake in the middle - that might be better. I used yellow butter cake instead of pound cake - was ok. They take a day of refrigeration to thicken up enough to cut.

Granny Kat's Pumpkin Roll

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2007
this tastes great and doesn't require a mixer to make :) try not to spread filling to edges - squeezes out when rolling:( update: i made this roll AND the libby's pumpkin roll recipe from allrecipes today just to see - the cake on this recipe tastes far better - and has a better consistency. might as well make two at a time - a small can of pumpkin is almost 2 cups.

Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2007
Ah ha! Finally my husband says this is better than his grandmother's!!!!! Not too sweet (though sweet potatoes are always kinda dessert-like). This was the first time I used uncanned ones - think they are better like this - I boiled them after peeling for about an hour. Baked 45 minutes instead of 30. let sit for awhile to set before serving - needs to "gel". Delicious!!!!

Chicken Jambalaya

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2007
FANTASTIC LOW CARB RECIPE!!!! and surprisingly simple? I doubled the recipe, used a 10 oz can of diced tomatoes with chilis and a can of chicken broth. Didn't have bay leaf, put in a dash of basil instead. Used one packet of "instant" microwavable brown rice for whole pot. Used double sausage and no shrimp. We all loved it - including a 2.5 yr old!!!!

Pleasant Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2007
EXCELLENT LOW CARB RECIPE!!!! And I usually don't like pork chops. I followed directions exactly - except used only 4 chops - we like a lot of sauce. We served with side of shredded brussel sprouts fried in a little butter. Would be good with noodles and/or brown rice too.

Savory Crescent Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2007
It is very good - my husband LOVES these. cooking the chicken and cutting takes awhile - if have canned shredded chicken it's much easier. i don't bother with the croutons - they fall off. i think it's a lot of work for a 5 star, but it's the day after christmas and i'm worn out - haha. oh yea - these really don't refridgerate well - get all mushy - need to be baked right before eating...

Easy Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
very easy and very good!!! i burnt the top of the turkey and the drippings were burnt too so i turned to this recipe. i poured 5 cups of CHICKEN broth into the turkey pan to "change" the flavor to turkey - swished it around, then prepared as directed. i only had a can of chicken gravy so i used that instead of the cream of chicken soup. worked fine. no lumps either!!!! saved my thanksgiving - except for the burn smell throughout the house :( haha

Scrumptious Sauerkraut Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
pretty good, though i was trying to duplicate barley's balls from columbus ohio and just couldn't figure it out. i added butter and cheddar cheese to this, but it still seemed too sour :( someone told me to rinse your sauerkraut before draining it - i'l try this next time... i don't have a deep fryer, so fried in 1 inch oil in a deep pot on the stove for 60 sec - worked good:) best when served warma dn fresh - not so good after refridgerated.
