I am pretty new to the cooking world, but have been baking since I was 11 or 12 years old. I often cook for my family, usually with success, however I can't say that is always the case. I love to try new things, because when I was growing up we always had the same kind of foods all the time.
My favorite things to cook
I mostly like to bake cakes and fancy desserts for parties and family functions
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every New Year's Day we all go to my Oma's and make oliebollen together, and then have a party after with the whole family.
My cooking triumphs
I made a really great shrimp and alfredo pasta dish a while back that turned out much better than I hoped. I also bake really good cookies and cakes.
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make a lemon chicken recipe, but added way too much lemon, and completely ruined the entire dish.

Orange Pumpkin Loaf
I made this exactly to the recipe (except doubled for 2 loaves). I was nervous about the whole orange (peel and everything) and I was right. My husband and I had such a strong taste of the bitter part of the peel that it overshadowed the rest of the taste, which was good. I might try this again, but instead of using the peel I would zest the orange and then use the peeled orange in the recipe.

Nacho Dip I
I made this recipe for a bridal shower, and it went really quickly. Everyone loved it. I left off the lettuce but followed the rest of the recipe. I would definetly make this again, and I am actually making it again tonight for a movie night with some friends. Thanks for the great recipe.
