Lana's Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2012
This was really good! I pan fried the meatballs which turned out great. I also added more pineapple than called for, just because I like a bit of pineapple with every bite.

Strawberry Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2011
I love the idea of oatmeal in a smoothie! I always grind the oatmeal in the blender first for a smoother consistency. I also like to add flax seed for some additional nutrients. I like my smoothies to have a thicker consistency so I always add plain yogurt and reduce the milk or just omit it all together and maybe add some fresh juice. I've tried all kinds of fruit in these and they are all delicious. I like to make a big batch and store it in a pitcher in the fridge so that in the mornings I can just pour a tall glass of smoothie for a great on-the-go breakfast!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
Before I write my review, I must admit that I did not stick to the recipe. I completely omitted the cream of mushroom soup because I didn't have any on hand. I had a box (two packets) of dry onion soup mix so I used both. I threw the roast in with both packets of dry onion soup mix and enough water to cover the roast into my crock pot. I let it cook on low overnight and by the next morning the meat was falling apart. I then threw in some potatoes, carrots and onions and let it continue to cook on low while I was at work. When I got home I took out the meat and veggies and made a gravy out of the liquid in the crock pot. I served with mashed potatoes. I know the cooking time on this one was more than necessary, but this was by far the best pot roast I have ever made and possibly ever eaten!

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
Very tasty! Took advice from others and added black beans, lime juice (as opposed to lemon, as the recipe calls for), cilantro and extra corn. I also made my own homemade chicken stock and used that in place of canned broth. I think it makes a world of difference.

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2009
This was awesome! I had a large Boston butt that I had to cut in half to fit in my slow cooker. I ended up slow cooking half and cooking the other half in the oven (200 for 3 hours) and couldn't tell the difference between the two. I did include one cut up onion and a can of beer with the half of butt I slow cooked. I then mixed both together and with Sweet Baby Ray's and cooked in the oven. I really think this last step is necessary. It makes it seem more like pork that's been grilled or smoked and then barbecued.

Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2008
Fabulous!!!! I made a few adjustments. Like others suggested, I used milk rather than water and added old bay to the seasonings. Also, I doubled the seasonings and added half to the bisquick mix (cheddar garlic) and mixed half with the melted butter which I spooned over the biscuits a few minutes before taking them out of the oven. These are wonderful!!!!

Grilled Salmon I

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2008
This is the best salmon I've ever eaten. I tried to reduce the sodium content by using reduced sodium soy sauce. Leftovers are just as good the next day!

Fabulous Zucchini Grinders

These are very tasty! I made a few alterations by using homemade pizza sauce I had leftover and toasting the bun with mozz. and parm. before adding the zucchini.

Chocolate Trifle

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2008
I have made this recipe twice now and did it differently both times. The first time I followed the directions precisely and it turned out very good. The second time I added my own touch to it by using homemade whipped cream rather than store bought as well as toasting pecans and adding them in between the layers with mini choc. chips. This version is to die for! My guests absolutely loved it. I think the little bit that was left over was even better the second day, too! (I also used fat free sw. cond. milk and couldn't taste a difference)

Broccoli Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2008
Very good! This is my husband's favorite soup. I usually follow the directions pretty precisely but this last time I didn't have Velveeta so I used mild shredded cheddar instead and it was just as good. I also add some fresh garlic to the butter/onion and use three times the broccolli. Delicious!

Slow Cooker Chicken Cacciatore

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2006
This was a good recipe, but I think the flavor of green peppers was a bit too strong. Next time will use red peppers.
