I am recently retired and enjoying every minute of it. Now I have more time for trying new recipes and my various hobbies.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything & everything but I am now limited in everyday baking to things that my husband likes, he is very fussy, so I love it when I can bake for friends and family who are not so selective but are always appreciative.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love special occasions such as Christmas and Thanksgiving when family are gathered around, meals are traditional and I always try to add at least one new thing to the menu.
My cooking triumphs
Wedding cakes for my two sisters-in-law and oldest godchild. All were different.
My cooking tragedies
First attempt at rolls when I was 14 and Mom was not at home to guide me. Either I was too anxious or the yeast was old. I waited the required time according to the recipe for the yeast to react and then followed the recipe exactly. They came out really small and hard. My Dad said "oh you made opera rolls." (I had never heard of them so I took his word for it) and he bravely ate three ans said they were the best- you have to love fathers. Lucky for him he had good teeth so none were broken chomping into the rolls. My next attempt was successful.

Panettone Loaves
This was my first time making Panettone. It turned out great & it will certainly not to be my last time making it, next time I will half the recipe. Used orange instead of vanilla and followed THOMJANICE review. I made it into two 8 in. round tins. Just wish it would stay fresh for more than two days as I am the only one at home now who eats it.

Baked Salmon Fillets Dijon
This recipe is a keeper, very nice, I took the advise of one of the other reviewers and melted the butter and combined the bread crumbs, spread them on the fillets, then put them under the broiler to finish it off to crisp up the coating. My husband who is not keen on salmon actually said it was very nice and he liked the new recipe. Yeah!

Roast Pork with Maple and Mustard Glaze
This recipe is a great recipe however as noted the cooking time needs to be increased. I certainly will be making it again.
