Me and my husband, John
Happy Birthday
My husband John and I
About this Cook
I'm 23 years old, been married for three years, and I work as a court reporter! My mom and I love to cook, but baking is our specialty. We've had a small baking business at the holidays every year, and everyone starts calling at Halloween asking for their goodies! One day we would like to have our own dessert shop with cakes, cookies, pastries, and a sugar-free line of goodies! My crazy dream is to have a cooking show one day for low and sugar-free desserts! It may never happen, but I can dream!
My favorite things to cook
Dessert!!! I'm an awesome baker, and a good cook. I like to experiment with Splenda in my baking (my Splenda sugar cookies are awesome!) Most of the women in my family are diabetic, so it's nice to have something sweet for them at get togethers.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holidays! Every holiday is a thanksgiving feast at my mom's house and it just isn't the same if we're not home to enjoy it! The best part is making goodie baskets for friends; most of the treats are gone before we can get them in the bag! Shame on dad!
My cooking triumphs
My first fondant cake wasn't a flop, it was better than I had hoped! For my husband's 23rd birthday I made a stacked 3-tier cake; the top was lemon, the middle strawberry, and the bottom chocolate. It tasted really good! I used the buttercream fondant recipe here on
My cooking tragedies
For Easter this year I made an Easter basket cake. I was sick and didn't know it when I prepared the cake and everyone that ate it got sick too. I was so ashamed.

Chocolate Syrup
This was the perfect ratio. Excellent chocolate syrup to use in chocolate milk, ice cream and coffee.

Butter Flaky Pie Crust
This tasted great and worked wonderful in the apple pie I made with it (All American Apple Pie from this site.) I didn't let mine refrigerate the whole four hours because I didn't realize until I had two hours before dinner that it needed to be done. No worries, it turned out perfect nonetheless. I rolled out the dough in the pie pan I was using and just refrigerated it about one hour in the pan, then put all the filling in and baked it 45 minutes, covering it with foil for the last 10 so the crust wouldn't burn. I'll be trying this out for my chocolate silk pie and any other pies I make. I won't bother buying them when it's so easy to make. Thank you for posting this!

All American Apple Pie
This was really good, and just what I was looking for. We had the leftovers for breakfast the next morning, and it was just as good the day after. I used a different crust, though, the butter flaky crust recipe as suggested by another user, which was perfect. I let the pie bake uncovered for the first 35 minutes, then covered with foil for the last 10 so the crust and topping wouldn't burn. This was wonderful and I'll be making it again when my family wants apple pie.
