Italian Sausage Soup with Tortellini

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2014
I love this soup and so does my husband. I made it to take to my parents' house on Christmas Eve (we always do soup, sandwiches, finger foods, and dessert) and everyone raved! The only thing I do differently is leave out the tortellini. I add small, tube pasta instead and serve the soup with grated mozzarella cheese on top.

Meat-Lover's Slow Cooker Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2014
I normally don't leave reviews here because I don't have a lot of time, but I DO try MANY recipes from this site. This spaghetti sauce is fabulous! The only thing I did differently was to add some veggis that I sauted first and I didn't have the tomato paste so I had to leave it out. My daughter, who loves spaghetti and always has to have Ragu sauce, said this was the best spaghetti she'd ever had. I'm glad because I control what goes in this sauce and it is much healthier than jarred sauce if you use turkey or chicken sausage and lean ground beef. My thanks to Ashley for sharing this with us!

Linguine Pasta with Shrimp and Tomatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2011
This was pretty good. I didn't have fresh tomatoes so I used canned, but the shrimp seemed to overpower this flavor in my opinion. I think I will use chicken next time I make it. My husband LOVED it, though, so I will definitely make it again and use fresh tomatoes next time.

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2011
This was very good!!! I had to use white wine vinegar since that was what I had on hand and we used whole, boneless, skinless chicken breasts and left them whole and grilled them. I marinated this for about 8 hours or so and my husband and kids gobbled it up. I also doubled the marinade as I used more chicken than was called for. I served this with roasted, red potatoes seasoned with fresh rosemary, olive oil, salt and pepper and corn on the cob. An excellent chicken dish!

Southern Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2011
This recipe was delicious! The only changes I made were to use two cups of beef broth for my liquid and I used more liquid smoke. I did not brown my meat beforehand. I just cut it into small chuncks and put it in the crock pot with the onions, garlic, broth, cajun seasoning, and liquid smoke. I cooked it on Low for about 6 hours, then took the meat out and shredded it and poured out some of the liquid, then placed it all back in the crock pot. We made sandwiches from it topped with a little BBQ sauce (Cattlemens-Kansas City Classic) and some coleslaw. However, I tasted the meat beforehand and it was tender and juicy and had a great flavor all on its own! This is the best pulled pork recipe I have found! Thanks, Brenda!

I would like to make these rolls, but can someone tell me what "shortening" they use for this recipe? Thanks so much!

Baked Spaghetti

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
I made this for dinner tonight and it is GREAT! My daughter loves it and so does my husband. The only thing I changed was to use two jars of spaghetti sauce and I added some mushrooms because my daughter loves them. I served this with a salad and garlic bread sticks. Thanks for a quick and easy recipe, Louise!

Chicken Tortilla Soup I

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2007
This soup is awesome and one of my family's favs! The only change I make to this is using one cup of rice instead of hominy. I just use the quick-cooking rice and add it right to the soup to cook. I make this all the time in the winter. It is very light and flavorful!

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2007
I used a cheaper cut of pork for this recipe. It was a pork loin. I followed the directions for crock pot cooking and the meat shredded easily for me. I wish that I had chosen a different BBQ sauce than I did, as the meat needed a little something; maybe an extra zip of flavor? Some sort of seasoning? All in all, it was fairly good and my husband liked it alot.
