Acorn Squash with Apple

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2006
This was a very good recipe especially if you are looking for something different to do with acorn squash. I used black walnuts for a more nutty flavor and natural sugar. I also fixed them in a skillet on the stove top since I very seldom use the microwave, because of losing the nutritional value of foods.

Venison Barbeque

This is a great recipe. I use Kraft Italian Free dressing and sprinkle meat lightly with Ms. Dash Steak Seasoning. Then cook everything in the frying pan using all the marinade which makes an excellent gravy for wild rice.

Deer Poppers

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2006
I sliced deer tender loin between 1/4 and 1/2 inch thick, lightly spinkled it with Ms. Dash Steak Seasoning and marinated it in Kraft Fat Free Italian dressing on the counter about 2 hours. I did not have greek seasoning or hot peppers. I placed meat and all the marinade in a pan with 3 Tbsp bacon grease and cooked till done. This was great served with wild rice and the marinade made a very flavorful gravy. My DH eat 2/3 of the first batch. Luckily I had more laid out in case this recipe failed, so I marinated it and fixed it for my sons when they got home. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Canned Apple Pie Filling

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2005
This is a wonderful pie filling recipe. The trick to the syrup is put your sugar and spices in 8 or 8 1/2 cups of hot water; stir till dissolved and place over low heat. Then mix 2 cups water 3 TBS lemon juice and corn starch and set aside. After you have the apples sliced and packed in the jars bring the sugar mixture almost to boiling stir in your cornstarch mixture and pour it into the sugar mixture. Stir or wisk mixture quickly. When the white of the cornstarch disappears, laddle over sliced apples. I use 3 tsp cinnamon and Florida Crystals unprocessed sugar. I also leave off the food coloring. It makes 9 quarts every time for me, but I pack the apples within 1 inch of the top. I have made 54 quarts already this year. Most to give as Christmas gifts.
