Sweethearts in Lake Tahoe
About this Cook
I'm in the Air Force, currently pursuing my masters degree in meteorology. I am married to my wonderful husband of almost 3 years, Carl, who is in the restaurant management business, so I always have a good food critic on hand! He's been lending me his well-honed natural talents in the kitchen for the past year or so :) We have a houseful of animals who we adore: Nero, our 1yr old Rottweiler, Ricky and Dougy, our 3 year old cats, and our lone turtle Fattie (just recently lost her partner in crime, Jakie, more formally, Jake and the Fatman). So between our animals, our careers, and our kitchen, we are happily busy!
My favorite things to cook
I love vegetables and cooking healthy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas, by far. It's the one time of year everyone's skills come together to produce an amazing feast for us all to share at one table.
My cooking triumphs
I'm working on mastering family recipes for cheesecake, meatballs, and pasta sauce. I've gotten homemade mac and cheese and a few trademark desserts down so far to keep around.
My cooking tragedies
Oatmeal and raisin cookies, actually...they actually tasted like cardboard!

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
You can't go wrong with cinnamon and cloves! These are incredible! The smell alone that fills the house as they bake is advertisement enough on how great these cookies are! The only thing different I did was to use cold butter (makes the cookies fluffier according to Alton Brown) and leave out the raisins (hubby's request).
