About this Cook
I'm going to be an Environmental Scientist and Sustainable Designer.
My favorite things to cook
I love vegetarian health food, but I also love to cook crazy things like creme brulee. I love clay pot cooking. Eggs are my favorite food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Mom makes enchiladas for birthdays and vegetarian stuffing for holidays. Dad always cooked me breakfast on the weekends growing up and I used to wake up at 4:00 am to have toast with him before he went to work some times. He always makes great curries and stir frys for dinner!
My cooking triumphs
I'm awesome at making something yummy from basically whatever is at hand.
My cooking tragedies
Sometimes I try to be too healthy with my ingredients and it just doesn't work out for anyone's taste bud's benefit. Rice flour buttermilk biscuits taste like sand, and you can't really make rice pudding with stevia. Sometimes, you just have to sacrifice health for an awesome flavor experience.

Vegetarian Tortilla Soup
This was AWESOME! And super easy... I got a craving for tortilla soup this afternoon but I've only had it once before and had no idea how to make it. This was perfect and my boyfriend also loved it. I followed the ingredient list but added my own amounts of everything, and I substituted jalepenos for the green chilies and it made it nice and spicy! Yay for leftovers.

Grandpa McAndrew's Irish Soda Bread
Yummy yummy yummy! I made this for St Patrick's day but it was so easy I could pretty much whip it up any time I wanted it. It had a really simple flavor that could go well with many different things, we ate it with butter and jam, it was a huge hit.

Kheer (Rice Pudding)
This was a good recipe and it was super close to the kind they serve at my local Indian restaurant, but just didn't quite excite me in the same way. But apart from trying to live up to that impossibly high standard, this really is an excellent and easy recipe.
