Brown Family's Favorite Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
I made this pie for Thanksgiving 2008! It's not like the traditional custard pumpkin pie. It's much lighter and fluffier to balance the streusel topping. My mom loved this pie!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
I made this for Thanksgiving 2008. It turned out great, but I should have used a "deep dish" because the apples didn't get covered with the topping evenly in the dish I used (they weren't sweet enough, but I don't blame the recipe). Also I used 4 gala and 4 granny smith to mix the tart and sweet as recommended by previous reviewers. Good advice!

Saltine Toffee Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
These are so delicious for such a simple recipe, but they do melt at room temperature. I like to freeze them.

Campbell's® Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
This was a hit at Thanksgiving! I omitted the soy sauce and added 1/2 cup of chopped red bell pepper (it really adds to the mushroom soup). Also I used the cheesey french fried onions instead of plain, used fresh green beans (not frozen or canned). All you have to do is follow the recipe on the back a French's Cheesey French Fried Onions, add the red pepper, and delicious. I'll make this again.

Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
I made this for Thanksgiving and this is the BEST pie I've ever made. Awesome! I recommend reducing sugar to 3/4 cup and subsituting Kahlua for the bourbon. My brothers, brother-in-law, and boyfriend absolutely loved this pie, and it beat the pumpkin and apple pie (they said they would have otherwise hated pecan pie if it weren't for this recipe). Also I followed advice and lined the chocolate chips at the bottom, but I don't think it really matters. I'll definitely be making this again for Christmas!!!

Garden Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2006
I made this pasta for an Easter Dinner Saturday and an Easter Brunch Sunday using Easter shaped pasta(enough for both). It does need a whole bottle of Italian dressing which absorbs well overnight. I left out the onions and substituted a red bell pepper for green. Also, I'd recommend adding pepper for flavor. Everyone loved this pasta. Its very colorful and tastes great!

Carrot Cupcakes with White Chocolate Cream Cheese Icing

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2006
I made these for Easter Brunch also. They are very moist, light, and have great texture. The frosting is good too. I thought they were kind of spicy, but everyone else thought they tasted right.

Apple Cranberry Crisp

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2005
I made this recipe at Thanksgiving and its great as a side dish or a dessert. The granny smith apples and cranberries are just the right mix of tart and sweet. A couple days later I had leftovers for dessert and added caramel sauce. Excellent recipe (don't change a thing). I'll probably make this for Christmas too.
