Prime Rib Au Jus with Yorkshire Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
These were fun to watch in the oven. I used 9 eggs. The puddings were yummy with the meat juice. This recipe will make about 20. Do NOT overfill muffin tin. The smoke billowing from the fat that overflowed was not appetizing.

Easiest, Most Delicious Meringue Buttercream

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2011
More detailed directions. Whisk egg whites, then add sugar & stir thoroughly. Place in double boiler (metal bowl didn't work so I put a smaller saucepan into a bigger one). Stir constantly until temp reaches 160 degrees. Pour into mixing bowl. Whip to soft peak stage. Allow bowl to COOL! Add chunks of butter (1/2 - 1 tablespoon sized pieces). Mix until texture is smooth. No soup. Great taste. This will become your go-to frosting. The recipe amount made plenty for a 9 inch 2 layer cake. I saved the rest & am eating it a teaspoon at a time. It's that yummy!

Everyone liked this. Have made it as a dinner for company. Super easy, too. Would give it a 6 if possible.

Grandma Jensen's Nuts and Bolts

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2011
Yummy! Unfortunately you can't double the recipe because it completely fills a large mixing bowl. I might try it with less butter next time so it won't be so greasy.

Dirt Cake I

Reviewed: May 2, 2011
Excellent. Recipe made 24 servings, approx 5 oz each. Used sugar-free chocolate pudding, gummy worms & clear cups. Will prob use smaller cups next time, as children did not eat whole serving.

Fresh Herb Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2011
Increased herb amount to 1/2 cup chives (amount in grocery store package) & 3/4 cup parsley. Did not use egg white wash because I forgot but without it the rolls have a nice rustic appearance. Dough was very WET & STICKY, but turned out well.

Broken Glass Torte

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2009
There wasn't enough butter for the crumbs to stick together. The jello crumbled as it was being mixed so it was not as pretty as I'd hoped. I probably won't bother with the crust next time.

Clam Sauce with Linguine

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2011
Yummy! This is going in our regular rotation. I did thicken the sauce with 2 tablespoons of cornstarch dissolved in some of the clam juice. It helps the sauce stick to the pasta.

Apple and Carrot Christmas Pudding

I followed the recipe. Steaming was new & fun. The texture was lumpy, soggy & dense. Only the cat liked it.

Carrot Recipe

Instead of regular milk & sugar, I used a 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk. Cooking off the liquid still took 45 min. Everyone liked it though.

1 out of 3 tasters was willing to eat more sauce. I am glad I did not put the chicken back into it as it was overwhelming.

Good dense cornbread. Didn't use pimientos & couldn't taste the onion at all. Will add more if making again.
