About this Cook
I've been married since 2004 and have one daughter and another baby on the way in 2007. I stay home with my daughter and so I do almost all of the cooking. when I was single I ate the same thing every day, but I have since progressed!!
My favorite things to cook
I try new recipes almost every week. that's my favourite thing to do. I'm slowly developing a repertoire. allrecipes rocks for that.
My favorite family cooking traditions
my mom is famous among her friends and church fellows for her baking, especially cinnamon buns. she has passed on the "touch" to me, and I'm well on my way to church-party fame!!!

Peanut Butter Vegetable Chicken Soup
I was doubtful about adding so few spices to this soup because I am a person who likes things with LOTS of flavour, but this soup is delicious! dont change a thing. dont be tempted to add more spices either. perfect as is. it's so rich tasting.

Cream Puffs I
I made my puffs about the size of the store-bought frozen ones and I got 24 plus I threw out a bit of dough. the pastries turn "golden" WAY before they are ready to take out of the oven. dont get freaked out and take them out too early! 25-30 minutes is necessary to cook the insides. the custard is lovely, but about twice as much as I could possibly use even with filling them as full as I could. that's ok, it was good to eat alone! I topped with melted chocolate and then refrigerated for a couple of hours. refrigeration is necessary to really make these perfect. good recipe. time consuming, but good.

Oma's Cottage Cheesecake
this really surprised me with it's excellence. it has the texture of cheescake, the look of cheesecake, and the flavour of cheesecake but a fraction of the fat. you could eat the whole thing yourself and not be sick! lol. served with reduced-sugar cherry pie filling this is nearly indistinguishable from the "real" thing. I mean, there's nothing like real thick creamy cheesecake, but this is a very good craving-filler. I used 1% cottage cheese.
