My favorite thing to do is to bake. I have been baking since I was about 8 years old. I have recently gotten into cake decorating, so I would have to say that I like baking cakes the most. My favorite tradition is cooking Thanksgiving dinner. Unfortunately, my mom has to work on Thanksgiving so I do the cooking. My little sister and I get up and cook all morning so that dinner is ready when mom gets home from work. It has become a fun tradition that I enjoy very much. My cooking triumph has nothing to do with what I cooked and how it turned out. My parents recently adopted a little girl. She was 10 at the time and has a lot of learning problems. She was barely reading when she came to live with us. I love to cook and she showed an interest. I used cooking as a way to improve her reading skills as well as her ability to follow directions. She is now 13 and is reading almost on grade level and loves to not only cook with me, but to read anything in sight.
