About this Cook
I am 26, Married 2 yrs., 5 kids (2 mine,3 his) We are avid Harley riders, I am an independent sales consultant for Passion Parties so I have all the time I want to spend with my family. Since the growth spurt in my family I've had to pick up more cooking techniques out of necessity. Funny thing is I really enjoy it!
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy roasting, smoking, and baking poultry, and beef. I also enjoy making cakes, and other desserts.Banana nut bread is one of my favorite things to make and include in the kids' lunch. Since I'm from Memphis you can't forget the fall of the bone tenderness of southern prepared, brownsugar sweetened baby back ribs! Oh yeah, presentation is very important!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up my family was a little estranged so I can't really remember any "traditions" so to speak, but I'm in the process of creating some now for all my girls to remember and carry on!
My cooking triumphs
This year is my 2nd Thankgiving to cook and prepare everything. The 1st year was decent but nothing spectacular. After raiding this site I came up with some mouth watering recipes that were handsdown delicious and are sure to make it onto the cooking traditions list. A big THANK YOU! to the people who submitted the ones I used!!
My cooking tragedies
None so major that it'd be good enough to mention. But give me time, for all victories, there has to be a pitfall.

Uncle Dank's Gumbo
This recipe was a nightmare for me. There wasn't enough fat to make the roux. I'm not experienced in making roux so my improvisation didn't work well either.

Homesteader Cornbread
This is the BEST cornbread I've ever made! Very moist and fluffy. I used it for dressing this time and my family ate every last crumb!! I will use this recipe from now on!

Sweet Potato and Apple Casserole
Very tender. Not too sweet. Just right. I used Jonagold apples. Next time I will double the ingredients for the topping. Definatly keeping this one in the recipe box!
