I used bone-in chicken thighs and seasoned them following the previous reviews... Salt, pepper, onion powder, poultry seasoning, paprika.. I also added some pearl onions that I cut in half and added those with 2 chopped carrots and 2 chopped stalks of celery. I think it adds color and of course extra nutrients! I had cream of mushroom soup on hand so I used that with chicken broth instead of water. My dumplings were a can of cresent dough that I pulled apart into small pieces and submerged them a little to get them wet. I cooked the chicken mixture on low for 5 hours, the thighs were "fall off the bone" so I pulled the chicken to extract the bones and shred the chicken then added the dough for the last hour.
I was very pleased with the result and my family loved it. They said "please make this again!" Served with a salad.
