About this Cook
i am a self proclaimed "foodie"...meaning, i read cookbooks for sport and have yet to come across one i didn't take something from. i experiment all the time with just about everything i can related to food. i love comfort foods, southern cooking even though it's not so good for us!! i have lived in maryland all my life and love the culinary outlets it has to offer -from bay crabs(YUM!) to eastern shore produce(YUM again!) to homemade (my own) chocolates and candies (double YUM!). i am always looking for more to gain from any and everything there is to know about food.

Prize Winning Baby Back Ribs
only giving this 3 stars because of the changes i would make to recipe to suit a different flavor profile. too much cumin/chili powder/paprika ... just overpowers really. i ended up putting in brown sugar to cut the intensity of the other flavors. also, i did as others had suggested and baked these in the oven for about 90 min @ 350' before searing bbq on the grill. they were fall off the bone tender and aside from the dry rub ... very very good. we managed to scrape some of the rub off, which made them better. next time, i will use something all together different for the dry rub - i definitely think they need something while baking - just not this one in particular.

Tomato, Corn and Avocado Salsa
This was a great, fresh alternative to "everyday" salsa ... full of flavor, great with chips, and I've used it since as a topping for fish. With a little creativity, you can tweak this to make it your own - either more or less spicy ... more corn, etc. It went over HUGE at the party I took it to. That's all I need to see with a recipe to make it a "keeper".

Warm Mushroom Spread
Have made this a few times and it always gets rave reviews. Very simple to make and people from across the board seem to like very much.
