I have always loved to cook. Some of my earliest memories are rolling out pie dough and baking cookies with my Grandma Phoebe. My father was also an excellent cook and I helped him prepare dinner everynight. I would say that I really became an avid cook when I switched my diet to vegetarian. It became necessary to learn about different ingredients and techniques. Now I read cookbooks like novels and have found there's is little I'd rather do than cook!
I am a 6th grade teacher and have been married just over a year to my absolute soulmate. I also enjoy reading, Yoga, exercise, and just spending time with my husband and friends.
My favorite things to cook
Hmmm... this is a tough one!
Tofu Fried Rice, soups, experimenting with different veggie burgers/patties, curries... anything new!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making sure there is always more than enough food for everyone, sharing recipes, and making the kitchen the center of the house.
My cooking triumphs
Successfully making Tempeh "meatballs" without a recipe- and they worked great! :)
My cooking tragedies
I made a Dal that was just crap. I had used too much water for the lentils- I grabbed the wrong measuring cup... this also messed up the rice b/c I used the wrong amount of that also! My husband thought it was good, but I thought it was a tragedy. Thankfully, he'll eat anything, so even my mistakes usually don't have to go to waste!
