About this Cook
Professionally trained chef, but now i only cook at home for family and friends
My favorite things to cook
Anything BBQ'd, anything anyone else enjoys
My favorite family cooking traditions
making more food than anyone can possibly eat at one sitting
My cooking tragedies
my first attempt at making a hamburger in grad school, which filled up my broiler, apartment, and smoke alarm with smoke. My first attempt at making cookies and thinking melted shortening would work as well as solid...verrrrry funny looking cookies.

Yummy Sweet Potato Casserole
This is a good start, but as the previuos reviewer suggested, you MUST roast the sweet potatos..it brings out all the natural sugars and sweetness. Now here is my addition...the last 15 minutes you are roasting the potatos, put whole bananas, skin on, and roast them for 15 minutes until they turn black. The bananas roast in their own skin and oils and become like banana pudding. Add that to the puree, with a touch of maple syrup for sweetness. Guaranteed to please!

Amish White Bread
Let me start by saying I stink at baking...I ruin bread machine recipes, so I was warey trying this one. I used my Kitchenaid stand up mixer for all the mixing. No kidding, this is the greatest and easiest bread recipe ever. The loaves came out perfect...looked professionally baked..better than the stuff at the supermarket! My kids go wild for the bread which is soft, sweet, and perfect for everything! It is great for sandwhiches, toast, and dipping into hot soup. Now my kids want me to make this bread only and NEVER buy bread again.
