Wilted Spinach

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2008
Very good! I followed the recipe almost exactly--I didn't have balsamic vinegar, so used red wine vinegar instead. Even my picky preschooler and toddler ate it. It's a great recipe for such a healthy "superfood"!!! I suspect it would also be excellent with a bit of parmesan cheese sprinkled over it.

Lazy Golumbkis

Reviewed: May 17, 2008
My family really enjoyed this. I did brown the ground beef first with the onion. Then I added a dash of ground cloves, and a bit of brown sugar (about 1/3 cup), per other readers' suggestions. I used brown rice, and it was fully cooked after 6 hours in the low setting--a minor miracle, because my rice never seems to cook properly! This was a great way to simplify the original cabbage rolls! It saved me so much time, and the family loved it. Thanks! :)

Rosemary Sherry Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2005
My husband and 2 year old LOVEd this dish! My 2 year old ate almost a WHOLE pork chop. The rosemary and sherry added wonderful flavor to the pork chops, which were tender and moist. I served this dish with "Early morning Oven Roasted New Potatoes" and the dishes really complimented each other. I took the other reviewers' ideas and doubled the rosemary and chicken broth, added flour at the end of its cooking time and stirred the extra gravy into the potatoes. YUM! * Can I just add that it's so frustrating to see people rate dishes low when they didn't follow the directions or use the key ingredients?? No wonder you don't like it when you eliminate and substitute things!!!

Old Settlers' Baked Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2011
My family loved this dish! I skipped the pork and beans, subbed in another can of kidney beans. Added some extra bbq sauce. Used 1 tablespoon of molasses instead of white sugar. And used 4 slices of bacon and the onion, with no ground beef. It was delicious! :)

Ratatouille

Fantastic! My family really enjoyed it. We didn't have mushrooms, so skipped that part of the recipe and we subbed a yellow squash for 1 zucchini. (again, based on what we already had!) We served it with jasmine rice.

My husband actually made this, and it turned out great. He used milk instead of cream and added mushrooms, also. It tasted fabulous. This is quickly becoming a family favorite for special occasions!

This turned out great for Taco night!! And the best part of it, besides tasting like the packets we buy at the grocery store, is that there is no MSG in the recipe! YAY!

Black-eyed Peas and Ham Hocks

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2007
This was okay. The recipe didn't say to soak the peas overnight, so I didn't. I'm wondering if perhaps I should have. It was a bit bland. . . I would not make this again.

Grandma's Polish Perogies

Better than the grocery store frozen kind. These were flavorful but very sticky to roll out and assemble. We had to pour a lot of extra oil over the dough to make it work.
