Rosemary Sherry Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2005
My husband and 2 year old LOVEd this dish! My 2 year old ate almost a WHOLE pork chop. The rosemary and sherry added wonderful flavor to the pork chops, which were tender and moist. I served this dish with "Early morning Oven Roasted New Potatoes" and the dishes really complimented each other. I took the other reviewers' ideas and doubled the rosemary and chicken broth, added flour at the end of its cooking time and stirred the extra gravy into the potatoes. YUM! * Can I just add that it's so frustrating to see people rate dishes low when they didn't follow the directions or use the key ingredients?? No wonder you don't like it when you eliminate and substitute things!!!

Chicken Breasts in Caper Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2005
I found the sauce a bit bland, but my husband LOVED it! I used a pint of cream as suggested by other reviewers, and added extra capers to compensate. I think next time I'll try adding minced garlic to the butter at the beginning of the recipe and also adding some garlic in the cream at cooking time. The chicken was delicous, and I served the mixture over egg noodles, again suggested by another reviewer. I'm so glad I tried this recipe!

Slow Cooker Chili II

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2005
This turned out sooo good! It simmered all day in the crockpot, and I served it with a dollop of sour cream and some cheddar cheese shredded on top, and buttermilk biscuits on the side! My family was very happy.

Black-eyed Peas and Ham Hocks

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2007
This was okay. The recipe didn't say to soak the peas overnight, so I didn't. I'm wondering if perhaps I should have. It was a bit bland. . . I would not make this again.

Chicken Pot Pie I

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2007
This is a great way to get my family to eat their vegetables! My picky 3 year old finished a whole serving for once! I used cream of mushroom soup instead of cream of chicken and cooked exactly per directions, adding pepper, poultry seasoning and a bit of rosemary.

Roasted Pork Loin

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2007
My family has loved this! Even my three and one year old have been eating leftovers of this dish! We used rosemary, sage, a bit of thyme and sherry (all I had on hand) instead of white wine. I added potatoes and carrots and it was a huge hit at our house!

Cheesy Baked Cauliflower

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2007
I thought this was delicious. My 1 year old loved it, too! It was a refreshing change to the cheddar cheesy kind of cauliflower. I added paprika and put in extra mayonnaise and a garlic clove. I steamed it for 20 minutes instead of 30. My husband does not like cauliflower and didn't care for this, but it wasn't the recipe. It was the cauliflower! thanks for a great recipe.

Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2008
This was delicious! The first time I made it, I cooked it over the stove per directions, using red wine, fresh onions, fresh garlic and adding some cream cheese, as others had suggested. The second time I used the crockpot, adding in the creamy ingredients for the last hour. We served this over egg noodles, with green beans on the side. My family loved this meal.

Wilted Spinach

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2008
Very good! I followed the recipe almost exactly--I didn't have balsamic vinegar, so used red wine vinegar instead. Even my picky preschooler and toddler ate it. It's a great recipe for such a healthy "superfood"!!! I suspect it would also be excellent with a bit of parmesan cheese sprinkled over it.

Sugar Cookie Cutouts

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2008
This was an excellent cookie recipe! We made ours a few days ahead of time, and the dough was too stiff and cold to work with, so we let it sit out for about 30 minutes. Then it rolled out beautifully! And they tasted delicious, even without frosting.

This turned out great for Taco night!! And the best part of it, besides tasting like the packets we buy at the grocery store, is that there is no MSG in the recipe! YAY!

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

I was disappointed in this recipe. I'm not sure if I cooked it too long, or what, but it turned out bland and too crispy around the edges.

Lazy Golumbkis

Reviewed: May 17, 2008
My family really enjoyed this. I did brown the ground beef first with the onion. Then I added a dash of ground cloves, and a bit of brown sugar (about 1/3 cup), per other readers' suggestions. I used brown rice, and it was fully cooked after 6 hours in the low setting--a minor miracle, because my rice never seems to cook properly! This was a great way to simplify the original cabbage rolls! It saved me so much time, and the family loved it. Thanks! :)
