Soft Gingerbread Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
These were amazing. Not sweet at all, perfect gingerbread cookies. I used dark molasses. The cookies stayed soft for a week. My husband said they were the best gingerbread cookies he ever had.

Butterscotch Gingerbread Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
Excellent cookies. I love gingerbread cookies, so I was suspicious of how it might taste with the extra sweetness, but it was perfect because the base gingerbread flavor is hardly sweet at all. My husband loved these as well!

Whole Wheat Banana Nut Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2008
This was good bread using all whole wheat flour. Following other suggestions, I used 1/4 honey and 1/4 brown sugar as sweetener. I also used egg substitute instead of eggs and added cinnamon and a full cup of pecans. I didn't have any applesauce this time, but I will definitely use it next time. The bread is too oily for my taste made as is, and I think the applesauce would have enhanced the flavor a bit. It was lacking on spices, next time I'll add even more cinnamon and some nutmeg. Overall pretty good though, did take longer to cook, about 70 minutes for me.

Irish Soda Farls

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2008
These are great and soooo easy. My husband wants them every night. They are very similar to the churrasca he makes in Chile, but these are even healthier because they don't require butter or shortening (except for what you want to let melt over the top!). Delicious!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies II

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2008
I was expecting a fantastic cookie after reading all the reviews and I just wasn't all that impressed. It's a decent, very chocolaty cookie, but the flavor wasn't anything really special. The flavor was like your basic brownie. I followed the recipe exactly. The dough was also very sticky and hard to work with.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2008
I added 1 egg and 3/4 tsp. baking soda and 3/4 tsp. baking powder. These additions make this perfect. I cooked it in a 13 by 8 pan. Everyone loved them. You have to add the extra ingredients though. It made them soft

Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2007
I thought these cookies were only so-so. My family liked them, but they weren't moist enough for my taste. They were hard and crunchy and flavor was just ok. I didn't think they were moist enough or sweet enough (they don't sell sweetened coconut where I live, so I just used flaked coconut plus the extract)

Neapolitan Cookies I

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2007
I cut up marischino cherries and added the pieces plus red food coloring to one ball of dough, melted chocolate to another ball of dough, and almond extract to the remaining (white) dough. Cookies were easy to make. I learned to take them out of the oven sooner though, they were ready in a very short time.

Strawberry-Nut Pinwheel Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2007
These cookies were very good. Use a good quality jam or jelly. I had trouble rolling the dough, but even in the places where the filling broke through the cookies looked nice and once it sat in the fridge it was easy to cut the next day (definitely leave in fridge overnight to firm up.) The cookies were very moist and stayed moist for days.

Spring Lime Tea Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2007
These cookies are some of the best I've ever made. Soft, moist, and very limey. They had a unique flavor and were a hit with everyone in my family. I used key limes instead of regular and added extra zest and the flavor was absolutely delicious. It is worth it to make the glaze. It adds an extra something special. Let the glaze harden and the cookies won't stick together.

Lemon Chewy Crisps

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2007
These were tasty but mine came out very flat and were better described as just crisps. Good lemon flavor though and pretty, almost like lace cookies (my dough was very sticky and thing, because I must have added too much extra lemon juice).

Almond/Apricot Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2007
This was excellent. I didn't have any sour cream on hand, so I substituted 1 cup of vanilla flavored yogurt instead, which worked great. I also cooked in a loaf pan instead of a bundt pan. Took a little over an hour to cook, about 65 minutes. I also made two layers of almond/apricot jam instead of one. So it was dough, alomd/apricot layer, dough, almond/Apricot layer, dough. Delicious!

Becca's Custom Turkey Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2007
Wasn´t very creamy but I liked it a lot and thought it was great for a healthier recipe. I made the whole wheat pie crust from another recipe on this site, lined a 9by13" pan and this recipe just filled that. I used corn instead of the green beans and mozarrela instead of Cheddar (no Cheddar cheese in Chile :() Enjoyed the recipe and will make again.

Crazy Crust Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2007
This pizza crust is excellent and no-hassle! I used 1/2 wheat and 1/2 white flour and one egg instead of two. It came out perfectly. It's the perfect thin crust pizza (which is my favorite style crust), yet it's sturdy enough to hold anything you want to put on it (I piled on cheese, sausage, olives, mushrooms, fresh basil, and the crust held up nicely.)

Pineapple Cheesecake Squares

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2007
The cheesecake was much lighter in flavor and texture than most (which I liked) but I thought the pinapple pieces made the cheesecake portion kind of soggy. I also thought the cinnamon on top was an odd and unnecessary flavor...

Chocolate Orange Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2007
Sensational cookies. The flavor is delicate (I added extra orange zest), but everyone was so impressed with the unique combination. I followed the recipe exactly (except for adding extra zest) and found them very easy to make. I rolled tons of separate little balls from each falvor of dough and then stuck the two colors together.

Peanut Beef Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2007
This recipe is excellent - by far the most successful wok/stir-fry recipe I've ever tried. I added a bit of cayenne pepper to the sauce and I also added chopped bell pepper and soybean sprouts. I served with white rice, and definitely had more than 4 servings. Thanks, really excellent!
