Easy Pizza Sauce II

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2012
I used tomato paste and added just enough hot water to make it a liquid, and added twice the seasonings like a previous rater suggested. It was a little intense and I will try it with just canned sauce next time. I used it two days in a row. It made my kitchen smell just like a good pizza parlor! Smell was perfect.

Vegetarian Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2008
Wow, this is great. I didn't miss the meat at all. I used walnuts instead of pecans, white japanese rice instead of brown, and shredded parm instead of grated. I cooked the diced tofu in the sauce, but also cooked the cranberries, and nuts in the sauce. I added green onions and diced tomatoes to the stuffing mix as it cooked in the sauce. Afterward, I stirred in white rice and shredded parmesean. Instead of using tomato sauce, I pureed more of the diced tomatoes in a food processor and spooned them on top. I sprinkled w/ shredded parmesean on top before baking. I found there was no need to wait for the stuffing mix to cool before loading up the microwaved peppers. They were great and easy! I served them with sesame green beans and peanut butter noodles. Everyone loved it! No one missed meat.

Peanut Butter Noodles

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2008
Awesome! I love it. Its like Pad Thai only easy! I used 2 teaspoons of chili paste and it was perfect! I may add lime and bean sprouts next time. I might mix in the green onions and chopped peanuts to make sure they don't all fall to the bottom. But the recipe is excellent as is. LOVE IT!

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2008
I really like this. I marinated it for much longer than required (a few hours). It may even benefit more from an overnight marinade. I made it in an electric grill bottom skillet. It was maybe too oily and I will try using less oil next time. Also, I used 1/2 recommended amount rosemary because substituted dry rosemary for fresh. I think I will use a whole Tablespoon next time and grind or crush it better first. Its a very tastey sauce. I agree that it is a good sauce on rice.

Seven Layer Taco Dip

Reviewed: May 23, 2008
This is really good. I added a layer of ground beef with taco seasoning and a layer of "guacamole" dip from the dairy case at the store. It would be better with real guacamole, but it was still really good. I put the cheese, green onions and black olives on top to garnish. I will make this one again!

Banana Pudding II

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2009
This is really good. I didn't use a double boiler. I just used a normal pot with a thick, even heat distribution bottom and whisked continuously until thickened (5-10 minutes). I did not use butter or vanilla (forgot) and it was still really wonderful. I only used 2 bananas. Loved it warm with the vanilla wafer cookies. Will definitely make again. Super easy.

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2007
Awesome recipe! I only had dry herbs and no dried cranberries and it still turned out great. I used chicken hearts and gizzards (1/2 pound) and I baked the stuffing at 350 for 1 hour. It was perfect not too soggy just as written! I had never made stuffing before but it was great!

Chicken Wild Rice Soup I

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2007
This is a great tasting soup! I did it in a crockpot without any of the extra steps. Chicken and roux and rice were all raw. Just combined everything, set it on low and walked away. I added the cream/milk just before serving. It still turned out great and was super easy! Recipe survives well with substitutes or omissions: oil instead of butter, milk instead of cream, no mushrooms, etc. I used the food processor to chop all of the veggies fast and easy. Great recipe.

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2012
I let mine rise up both times I made it. What I love about this is that it is no-knead so it really is very easy. Just let the yeast sit in the water than throw in the other ingredients and stir. Its good to know that if you don't have time you can use it right away instead of letting it rise. Put enough oil in the pan, sprinkle with corn meal and let it rise twice and it tastes just like pizza hut crust.

Balsamic Glazed Carrots

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2007
I really liked this but my husband thought it was too much vinegar. Instead of using whole baby carrots, to shorten the cooking time I julliened carrots, so they only needed 7 minutes.

Pumpkin-Pecan Cake Roll

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2006
This was great! Even clumsy me could make a beautiful roll! I followed reviews and gently folded in dry ingredients to prevent over-mixing. Next time I will grease and lightly flour the wax paper. Its really important to chill the cake. Refridgerate over night for best results! Next time I will add a little lemon or orange zest to freshen it up. Great cake! Beautiful presentation!

New Red Potato Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2006
I love potato salad but never knew how to make it. This is my first one and it turned out so great! Per other reviews, I used mustard instead of milk and doubled the eggs, and made dressing in a separate bowl before pouring over. Its great!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2006
Fabulous! I read other reviews and did not cook the noodles first. I only simmered sauce for 1 hour and refridgerated overnight. I assembled and refridgerated overnight again, then baked for a pot luck. I made half the sauce without meat, and assembled in two smaller pans (one vegetarian the other with meat per recipe). The vegetarian was wonderful, too. The subtle cheese flavors really stood out in the veggie one. Improves as leftovers. Its fabulous!

Caesar Salad Supreme

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2006
MAGNIFICO! But, careful when using store bought croutons. Use only 3 garlic cloves in the dressing. The other 3 of the 6 listed are for croutons. This recipes is SO quick & easy and SO delicious! It's the best salad dressing I've ever had. Also good with anchovie paste (1-2 Tablespoons). Can use a little vinegar instead of lemon to get same taste. Serve with chicken breast or archovies on the top. I used Pillsbury frozen dinner rolls, crusty Italian. Fantastic! Fabulous! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Chocolate Trifle

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2006
It IS too sweet. But I still love it! Maybe we could use UNsweetened condensed milk and then add a little sugar, but not too much. Then it would be just as easy, but we could control how sweet it is a little bit more.

Swedish Meatballs I

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2006
I usually don't like to open a can of soup for sauce, but this was GREAT!: Marla's meatballs, baked like Jessica suggested. Jessica's sauce, with Jimmy78's seasonings (minced garlic, black pepper, sour cream, sauteed mushrooms, easy on the horseradish to taste!). Paper towel drain and baked in sauce per Jessica. FABULOUS! It takes a while to make but is well worth the time! A+++

Garden Veggie Pizza Squares

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2005
This is a great appetizer! It's perfect! The red pepper looked beautiful! I also added black olives. The only thing I didn't like about it is that it becomes soggy over time. It's best to eat it immediately after the 1 hour chill time, when its nice and crispy. Very tasty recipe! I made it twice last week!
