Nectar of the Gods - A Champagne Beverage

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2014
I love champagne, and I even like my champagne on the sweeter side, but overall this recipe was just too sweet. I even tried adding more champagne to the mix and although it was better (about 6 oz instead of the 4 oz suggested) I didn't really like it. Better without the nectar and using less Chambord.

Blooming Onion and Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2005
No one at my GNO party could believe I actually made this - it turned out beautifully! I took a previous reviewer's suggestion and put the cut onion in simmering water for one minute, then in a ice-water bath for an additional 3 minutes. It was hard to get the batter inbetween the layers, but even the ones at the restaurant aren't always that perfect:) The sauce was terrific. I have a Fry Daddy Jr., so could only use a medium-large onion, which was perfect after about 7 minutes in the fryer. Anyone can make this, no kidding.

Strawberry Cake II

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2005
I used this cake recipe to make an Elmo cake for my daughter's birthday and it was a total hit! I took the other reviewer's advice and pureed the strawberries before putting them in. I used about 3/4 of the strawberries that were called for and the cake turned out perfectly!

The Best Cheeseball

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2005
Everyone really liked this cheeseball, but I would have used less cream cheese in the recipe - maybe 12 oz instead of 16 oz, or at least add more of everything else to compensate. Otherwise good taste and presentation, not to mention really easy!

Sweet Party Mix

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2005
Absolutely awesome snack mix! I've made this recipe on two occassions and both times it was gobbled up in no time! I personally like using peanuts instead of the almonds and pecans - gives it a little kick of salt and is a lot cheaper:)

Great party snack. Was a little spicy for the kids, but the adults loved it!

Fabulous Fudge Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2005
I used this cake recipe to make a horse cake for my daughter's birthday party. The cake was fabulous and so moist - everyone raved! I didn't use the caramel icing, but instead used the Chocolate Fudge and French Buttercream Frostings on this website, which were both to die for. Will definitely put this in my recipe box!

Mike's Homemade Pizza

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2005
I made this recipe for my daughter's birthday party and it was a total hit. I had never made homemade pizza before and not only was this easy, it was so tasty. To make the recipe even more nutritional I substituted whole wheat flour for 1/3 of the flour used and everything turned out just right. I also used the dough hook on my standing mixer to mix the dough together which made the dough rise a lot better. Enjoy!

Salsa II

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2005
I've made this salsa on two ocassions and both times everyone has raved about it! Not only is it easy, it's delicious. I usually cut the jalapenos to 1/2 lb. so it's more on the mild side. This recipe also makes a TON, so halving it would be plenty for a normal get-together. Enjoy!

Corn Casserole I

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2005
I made this recipe for a family get-together and it turned out wonderful! I omitted the butter and used low fat sour cream to cut down the calories, and used a Mexican blend for the shredded cheese. Very easy too!
