Italian Easter Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2010
I was so excited to see this recipe and read the wonderful reviews, I followed it to the letter and in my opinion they are sorely lacking in flavor. Yes the texture is cakelike which is nice but there is no taste. I wanted to test prior to making for Easter. After being so disapointed in the first batch, i thought maybe if i add some anise or lemon extract to the dough it will save it. Lemon is more springy was my thought so i opted for the lemon. Still not great at all. The anise probably would have given more of the " Italian" flavor. Also i think if I were to attempt these again, i might try an icing as oppsed to the frosting, to thick of a texture.... No offense intended here especialy after such wonderful reviews. Just not at all as i expected.

If there were ten stars this recipe would get them all. I've been making it for years and they are always a hit, always. Nothing needs to be changed thank you so much to the orginal poster!

Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2006
I think I am the only one out of all the reviews that had trouble with this. I was so excited to prepare this because the ratings were so high. But it just didnt' work out for me. I did exactly as the recipe said. I had to trim some of the meat to it would fit, and even still it wasn't a perfect fit so i covered the crock with tin foil. I cooked on low for eight hours during the night, i woke up in time to shut it off so it didn't over cook. To my surprise there was burnt sugar and no juices as everyone else speaks of. I turned the meat over and added a quarter cup of water and let cook a few hours longer it did indeed make juice but by that time the juices were overruled by smell of the burnt sugar. My kids thought i made pulled pork! I ended up running out to the store to buy a roast for dinner instead, wouldnt' have been a big deal if i didn't have company coming over. I just dont' know what i did wrong, not sure i want to risk it again though.

Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2006
I made this recipe for one of the play off games last month I went to the grocery store all excited to get the ribs and they didn't have any!!! I thought what the heck whats the worst that could happen if i try "country style ribs" Let me just tell you they were awesome, still took the amse amt of cooking time while they were cooking i made boston baked beans in the oven, cornbread and coleslaw. Great meal. Now i have to one up that meal for the superbowl!! Thanks for the recipe, I will definately use it again. Margaret
