About this Cook
I rarely cook...my profile here was the result of a holiday dinner at work which required a covered dish from each of the employees. I've recently moved in with my boyfriend so cooking on my behalf was a lot cheaper and easier for us rather than going out and eating.
My favorite things to cook
The double layered pumpkin cheesecake! It looks like I can really cook and every time I serve it--everyone makes sure it disappears.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family background is Chinese so most of the at home holiday cooking fests are bizarre. My aunt is a terrific cook but you never ask what is in front of you--you just enjoy what's on your plate.
My cooking triumphs
Still the double layered pumpkin cheesecake! It was the first big dish I ever made and it was a huge success. My boyfriend hasn't had it yet--saving it for when he's extra good. :)
My cooking tragedies
Some instant cookies where you only had to add eggs and water to...I threw in too many eggs and subsistuted buttermilk for water. It never became a large lump of dough as it did a batter for bland cake. I haven't brought the mad scientist in me out since then.

Juicy Roasted Chicken
We've made this about a dozen times so far and it's very yummy! The recipe itself seems very ho hum but when done it is some of the tastiest chicken. One reviewer stated it's idiot-proof...seriously, it is. Try the recipe--you'll be happy you did.

Chicken Cordon Bleu II
I love this dish! Inexpensive but looks like you went all out! I followed the recipe to exactly the first time around but the second time I made it I did decrease the amount of butter used since it made the sauce look a little greasy at the end. As for the chicken, I dipped it in several layers of egg and the flour mixture. I omitted the whipping cream since it gave the sauce a funky look and used plain ole whole milk. The cornstarch is what really thickens the sauce anyhow. Also, when I set the chicken aside, I put it in a pyrex dish and poured the sauce over it and then topped with more swiss cheese before popping it in the oven for about ten minutes or until the cheese was nice and bubbly. One of my favorite dishes to make now!

Hamburger Supper
Very easy to make and very much a comfort food! I was skeptical of the ingredients at first with gravy and cheddar together but it turned out great! My husband like it immediately and asked what was in it. He even requested it be made again which next time I will play around with the seasoning like use Montreal Steak Seasoning for a different kick.
