About this Cook
I love to cook and enjoy different ethnic foods. I want to get more into Bento boxes, the cuteness factor alone makes the smaller portions so appealing.
My favorite things to cook
I like BBQing and Asian cooking. I like to try challenging recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My daughter loves Chicken and Dumpling soup, my hearty beef borscht. We are Japanese and love the differnt Japanese foods, as well as the Chinese influence.
My cooking triumphs
Chicken and Dumplings with Stars soup; Hearty Beef Borscht, full of barley and garden veggies; Michel's Sheperd's Pie; Frozen Mochi Ice Cream; Chicken Cordon Blue Casserole
My cooking tragedies
My worst attempts are my East Indian dishes. I haven't figured out the correct proprortions of spices for our tastes.

Cranberry Hootycreeks
Made lots of these for gifts. The butter has to be room temperature or you will have to do a lot of mixing by hand to soften the cookie. If too thick, add 1 - 2 tbsp milk. Check to see how mix looks, if too wet, don't any more. The kids and recipients loved this recipe. One girlfriend mentioned that the kids didn't get any.

Super Seven Spinach Salad
Turned out great. Mixed spinach, apples, some onions, part cranberries with Poppy Seed Dressing III in a bag, till everything was evenly covered. Plated and topped with grated cheddar, onions and some cranberries. At the end, the lady took the whole salad bowl and sat down at the table and made sure there were no leftovers.

Poppy Seed Dressing III
The recipe was delicious. The women couldn't stop eating. They licked the bowl clean, manners aside. I thought the dressing was delicious and could easily be made in smaller quantities. I will cut back on the sugar, especially for a salad with sweet fruit.
