Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2005
Being a new slow cooker user I was concerned at the cooking time listed but this was perfect. Very tender and very tasty!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2006
Pretty darn good. I used boneless chicken thighs rather than breasts and they were so tender they shredded with the gentle pressure of a fork. After reading the reviews I used cream of chicken and cream of celery (both fat free) soups, and added dried sage and only one tube of biscuits. Next time I may omit the biscuits entirely or by half again as it was a lot for two people. Planning on adding baby carrots and potatoes next time too. Definitely a recipe to repeat and a good one to build off of for different flavors in a pinch.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2006
Pretty good, we enjoyed it. I used boneless, skinless chicken thighs and omitted the butter (I'm on WW) for FF chicken broth. I'd like to make it a bit more tangy but otherwise it was excellent. I'll definitely make this again.

Julia's Easy Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2006
Pretty darn good! I scaled it down for two and added a little chicken broth (maybe 1/2 cup) as my crock tends to get a little more hot than I'd like when cooking for a long time. I started this at 7:30 on low and we ate when I came home by 6:30. A LONG time cooking but it held up very well. Will definitely make this one again.

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2006
Seriously - this was wonderful! The turkey was so moist I didn't need a knife to cut the meat. Yeah, it was a little more salty than I cared for but that can be dealt with by using less onion soup mix and/or substituting herbs as a rub. I have no complaints, this was perfect. I have a 3.5 quart crock and a turkey breast that was just shy of 4 pounds. It barely squeaked in, I was a little worried the crock wasn't big enough but took a chance and am thrilled with the results. I'll definitely make this again.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2007
These cookies are fabulous, even with my mistakes and omissions. You can tell how often I bake when I say I thought I had margarine and cloves, but of course, didn't. So no cloves at all and the margarine turned into butter flavored Crisco (how I had that and not margarine I have NO idea!) and the cookies were still wonderful. I'll definitely make these again, with the proper ingredients and I can only guess how much better they will be. Will try it with orange juice too.

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2007
Pretty good recipe, DH loves it but I'm not overly fond of oatmeal cookies as a rule so it's hard for me to say for sure. Most definitely soft and moist, I don't think they're going to last very long. I made 2/3 the recipe plain with no add-ons but added semi-sweet chocolate chips to the remaining 1/3. Pretty good too. Edited to add: On the second day, the cookies were MUCH better. Suddenly I could taste the oatmeal (which I think is what I was missing before) and the texture and everything was much better. Changed to five stars from four.

Slow-Cooked Meat Loaf

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2007
This is good. I used herbed stuffing mix (about half a small box) rather than cubed bread after reading it was a little bland. Next time I'll mix ketchup throughout for a bit more flavor. Otherwise this was moist and just as good as I'd hoped. Certainly an easy way to make a meatloaf! Will definitely make this one again.

Cheddar Chicken Spaghetti

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2007
Really very happy with this and DH liked it too. Usually he doesn't care for anything casserole-like but he approved of this one easily. Yay! Next time he requests I add some diced tomatoes which sounds good to me too. Really very pleased with it all the way around! Thanks!

Apple Cake III

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2007
Pretty darn good. I added cinnamon, walnut extract and vanilla to a spice cake mix (we didn't have nuts on hand) and two cans of unsweetened apple pie filling after reading previous reviews. Super moist and excellent flavor, I will definitely make again.

Snow Flakes

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2007
I just received my cookie press on Friday, this is the first recipe and the ONLY one I'll use. The taste is phenomenal and I doubt I could improve upon it much. I didn't have orange zest so used a half tbsp of orange juice - probably could have added more but am not about to blame the recipe for that. These cookies are just perfect and it was all I could do to keep from making a second batch just to get past the learning curve of a new cookie press. Fabulous recipe, thanks so much for sharing!

Chewy Caramel

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2007
Fabulous recipe and very easy, especially for my first candy making experience. DH thinks it's good enough to sell. This recipe makes a lot of caramel, much more than the 32 servings given in the recipe guide. Not a bad thing but be prepared. Will definitely make again.

The turkey was excellent! The white meat was sooo incredibly moist. I'll definitely make the next turkey this way. Merry Christmas!

Licorice Caramels

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2007
Pretty good licorice - says the woman who doesn't like licorice. So it must be good. Made my batch exactly as the recipe states, however, I would not recommend pouring into baking dish lined with buttered foil. Not unless you enjoy picking bits of foil out of your candy. Otherwise, this was great... I mean, really good. DH loves it.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2008
Pretty good, certainly a breeze to make. I think I should have added another banana or two (I only used 3, not sure what I was thinking) as I would have liked more of a banana kick. I didn't add any spices or vanilla and baked it in a small bundt pan for about 50 minutes. Will definitely make this again when DH forgets to eat bananas. Excellent recipe!
