I'm a pastry chef at a high end restaurant and we have a rotating cookie selection on the menu. I put these on the menu and at first, people stuck to the other classic choices, chocolate chip, etc. However, after the waitstaff began snacking on them and spread the word, they became one of the most popular menu items!
The texture is great--chewy and moist. The flavor is fantastic. Do make sure you flatten them more than the recipe's "slightly," otherwise they'll be little domes instead of cookie shaped.
I highly recommend this to anybody looking for a nice, soft spice cookie.
