About this Cook
I'm married with two kids. All of them are picky and like something different so this is a challenge. I, on the other hand, love any kind of food and love trying new things. I never really cooked much until after I got married. Since I have been using this site I have been more adventurous and trying lots of new recipes, it really has made cooking a lot of fun for me!
My favorite things to cook
I love baking cookies, and eating them! But I have to say that I have really learned to enjoy cooking dinner for my family.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Whenever my family gets together my Mom and Grandma are always cooking up something good. I used to just sit and watch them cook, but now I like to join in and share some of the good recipes that I've found.
My cooking triumphs
I made some cinnamon rolls and they were not so good, I had never made any yeast bread before. So I was determined to make some really good cinnamon rolls, a couple pans later they were perfect! Now I'm not afraid to make anything that requires yeast!
My cooking tragedies
I've had quite a few, but one really stands out. When I was about 10 or 11 my Mom was away for the evening and I had to cook dinner for my Dad. I was going to fry pork chops and potatoes which should have been pretty easy. The pork chops browned nicely, but the potatoes were burning on the outside and raw on the inside. I did the best that I could and my Dad ate it without complaint. When my Mom came home I told her what happened and the bottle of 'oil' that I used was still sitting out, she discovered that I fried potatoes in corn syrup instead of corn oil!

Short Cut Mexican Fideo (Vermicelli)
I made this to go with my mexican meal when I discovered I was out of rice. It was pretty good, everyone ate it up! I think this is a good alternative to rice. I used angel hair pasta broken into small pieces. I also added some garlic powder, cumin and a little oregano.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies
These are the best brownies that have ever come out of my kitchen! My 10 year old daughter made these so that tells you how easy they are. The outside had a nice crackle and the inside had just the right amount of chew and fudginess. They are very rich but worth it.

Vicki's Hush Puppies
As other reviewers suggested I had to add some milk because the batter was very dry. I used a little less sugar. This recipe make A LOT so next time I will half the recipe! The flavor was good but I think they could use some seasonings in the batter.
