Amish Friendship Bread II

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2010
The last time I made this I used lemon pudding and added some frozen blueberries. I baked it in a bundt-like pan, and when it was done I drizzled a lemon glaze over it. YUMMY!

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2010
I thought this was quite tasty, but my family thought it was just okay. I was afraid it might be too spicy, but it was just right! It did make a lot, but that just means I'll freeze some for another time. Yum!

Frosted Banana Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2010
I made these today, and they came out quite tasty. To make them lower-fat, I substituted: egg substitute for the eggs, vanilla low-fat yogurt for the sour cream, and I used 1/4 C butter and 4 oz of applesauce. To counter all the low-fat ingredients, I added peanut butter chips. No frosting needed!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2010
AWESOME!! I actually made it with pumpkin spice pudding mix and cinnamon chips (no chocolate chips). I bet it would be great with peanut butter chips too. Can't wait to try it again!

Spiced Slow Cooker Applesauce

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
I LOVE THIS! I have made it 3x in the last month, and I can't get enough of it. It tastes like apple pie filling, and it is so good! I've used a mixture each time, using Jonagold, Golden Delicious, and Cameo. It made for a great treat straight from the crock pot after playing outside in the snow. YUMMY!

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
Great flavor! I didn't add water, as some reviewers did, and perhaps I should have. It ended up being drier than I would have liked, but the flavor does make up for it.

Baked Spaghetti

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
I made this recipe with ricotta cheese but without ground beef. It felt a little "thin" for a 9x13 pan and when I try it again (which I will!) I will use a smaller pan so each piece feels more substantial.

Homemade Italian Turkey Sausage

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
Very tasty sausage! I wanted to use turkey sausage in a breakfast casserole, but didn't have any on hand, so I used this recipe with the ground turkey that I did have. I made a few little patties, but most of it I cooked as crumbles. My kids and I couldn't stop eating it! Can't wait to make it again!

Ricotta Gnocchi

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
My rating is purely based on the gnocchi, as I did not make the sauce. Instead I made a pesto sauce, and that complimented the parmesan cheese flavor of the gnocchi quite nicely. I look forward to making the gnocchi again when I have ricotta on hand!

Graham Streusel Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
As written, the cake would have been very good. Especially the topping! I added one can of jellied cranberry sauce cut into small pieces just under the streusel topping, and it turned out quite yummy. This gave it additional flavor and interest.

Cabbage Fat-Burning Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2009
This soup had delicious flavor, especially considering how good-for-you it is. I used the same ingredients as the original recipe, but my amounts may have been a little different - only 2 onions, a lot of baby carrots cut into chunks, frozen green beans. I used chicken broth instead of beef, but that was the only real difference. I look forward to eating more of this guilt-free soup!

Very refreshing and easy to make. Didn't add the pineapple, and I'm glad I didn't. Smooth and creamy goodness!

Caramel Apple Bars II

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2009
I loved them, but they didn't go very quickly at a family reunion potluck. I might experiment with using less butter so I don't feel so guilty eating them!

Best Cream Of Broccoli Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2009
Delicious! Very thick, so I ended up adding some extra milk. I like that it didn't have cheese in it.

Gobble Up Granola Snacks

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2009
Great recipe! I followed some of the other reviewers idea of 2/3 cup of PB, honey, brown sugar, and raisins. Even hubby said "not bad" which is a high compliment for anything containing oats! Kids age 2 and 4 loved them too!

Carrot Oatmeal Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2009
I made this with my 4 year old daughter and we both loved it! No need for the cream cheese filling, but it would be great with a cream cheese frosting! We made ours in mini loaf pans and baked for 30+ minutes. Definitely use 1/4 c oil and the rest applesauce, and next time I might not add the coconut. I can't wait to share with my health conscious sister. Delicious!!
